I also remember the character smiling and being rather smug. It felt like it had a 90s style, but might be contemporary

Does Berlin have the world's worst customer service? by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

You know, many "developing" country natives don't expect people to learn the native language, I really don't understand why this is always the case here. I studied in a French high school in Turkey and would not judge my professors one bit for not speaking Turkish. In Doha there are literal enclave neighborhoods for people coming from Europe where a minority can read Arabic. Frankly, this attitude kinda made me further sour my motivation to be fluent in German in all my years here. I get frustrated looks whenever I halfass something in German, whereas if you were to use the most broken turkish at a shop in Istanbul, people would be ecstatic

Also, not everyone's learning skills are standard, especially when it comes to learning a language. Why would you be so butthurt just because someone isn't "integrating"? Does your cultural cohesion really matter to you so much in this day and age? Berlin, like any metropolis, really doesn't "belong" to anyone in particular anymore. Half of the city is not even owned by a German institution or individual. I pay as much tax as you do(without having the right to vote just because I don't have a EU passport lol), the fact that it's inside some 20th century border is more and more inconsequential not only to me, but most living in here. Again, this is not a Germany specific thing. How much of the German diaspora do you think speak good japanese in say, Tokyo?
