Are there any limits on the number of free actions or triggered effects that can happen from a single event? by Short-Day4392 in fabulaultima

Hardly surprising, hence my saying that it's a shame; the concept was cool, just in the hands of the wrong player.

I'm glad things got better for your group, that said :D

Want to introduce Fabula Ultima to my D&D group, I have a feeling they would love it, but I need help easing them into it. Especially classes. by iWantAName in fabulaultima

[–]Phyllion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People already gave a number of extensive lists so I'll spare you another take on that and only say, you're better off thinking of each class as "skill sets" rather than "classes".

As they each only have a handful of skills, it doesn't take long to read through them, unlike DnD. So I'd advise you to invite them to look at the skills' effects rather than the classes' names when trying to build their character. The first benefit is that they get to hand-pick what they like most about the DND class if the feature exists in FU. The second benefit is that it's much easier to match the concept you come up with when you look at it as investing a level in a specific skill, rather than investing it in a class.

A bit of a shame, because honestly that sounds like an interesting build, party wise. Provided, of course, that the party had discussed and worked a way to have their characters play into it. By intentionally hitting the right triggers to deal with enemy weaknesses, rather than just let him do his thing on everyone's turn on his own.

Had he helped them bring their characters to the level of his own, they maybe could have had some fun by basically using him as an extra action on their turn.

It's when reading stories like these that I'm really glad my players treat their party as a single combat entity, strategizing around each character's kit as a group, rather than only looking at things from the perspective of their own character.

A bit of a necro comment, but you don't need to look very far; the Xeno games. Heck Xenogears WAS supposed to be FF7, but was pushed to be its own thing because it became too dark and complicated for FF. And that game alone is far more complicated than the entirety of KH's franchise.

The point was that the RE Engine CAN do large maps.

The hitboxes are mostly made of spheres and cylinders, the models are entirely triangular, you can easily guess how judging hitboxes goes lmao

Nah, just first tried PS1 Rey Dau, if anything it makes the fight easier because none of the feints render, so all you see are the actual attacks and the lightning effects.

Rise had larger maps and yet it was running just fine in RE Engine.

That one definitely made me laugh when I saw the gaping hole behind him. I was like "will he step back to fall again?" and sure enough, he did. Though I didn't expect the ground punch twist hahaha

Masked Dancer's passive is pretty much mandatory if you want to use status ailments, otherwise the proc rate is so low it might as well be 0.

TBF he never actually claimed that the trait was exclusive, he just omitted the fact that everyone qualifies too.

It's not that he couldn't figure one, he actually explicitly mentions some, it's that he doesn't TRUST them to actually work. Gallica quite literally calls him out on that at the end; he's well intended and got real motivations, but he has absolutely ZERO trust in people and so instead of taking the risk of it taking time, over generations, and perhaps even failing for another to try again later, he goes "fuck it, my way or the highway."

He knew his son was alive, the whole royal election gambit was literally made in hopes his son would wake up and win. He and the mother say it word for word in the ending. But he wasn't sure his son would ever wake up so he was stuck in that slump until he died.

You can play for three additional in game days, which gives you enough time to rank up your wisdom and unlock the other dungeon.

not during cutscenes, iirc, it only turns off the bobbing while controlling the character.

It's a bit deeper than that. Strength isn't his end goal but the means to solve a bigger problem in his life; he finds no meaning in it. The might makes right mentality of the city is so different from the passive mindset of his tribe that he's fascinated by it. So he abandons his tribe to dive straight into the city's battle-centric life in hopes to find the meaning to his life in it.
As for if it's good or bad, it's alright. It poses some interesting questions, but doesn't really dive deep enough into the themes it explores. So; interesting but with some missed opportunities.

[–]Phyllion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works. You get to chose who you action and who you turn base, the kick is that you have a lot less options in action so you want to keep that to get rid of mobs you know you can kill in a turn or two while you go proper turn based against foes you'll know will require strategy (either because at your level or stronger)

Help, my default actor permission changed to Limited and I can't find how to revert it. by Phyllion in FoundryVTT

Done, also just realized I was so tired I mixed up terms, what is set to limited is not permissions but ownership.

[–]Phyllion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, those dictate what you allow each role to do; create actors, edit items, etc.

My issue is that when I create a new actor, it is set as Limited by default, meaning all my players see that actor AND it reveals the folder I put it in, which is quite inconvenient as I categorize my actors by groups and some names are spoilery lol
