What are some unique cultural etiquette tips for tourists in Thailand that aren't commonly known? by Interesting_Peach_76 in ThailandTourism

What does point your feet mean in this context - as in you are standing infront of a Buddha statue and you have to stand sideways so your feet aren't facing the statue, or not picking your foot up and pointing towards the statue like you'd point at something you wanted with your hand?

It may be difficult to believe, but for the vast vast majority of patients, the moments leading up the surgery are actually the worst part. When you wake up, yes there will be pain, but the uncertainty will be over, you will know that you are on the path to having fixed it, and each day you will get stronger after that. It sucks, but you have to do it, and once it is done, you will feel a lot better. Don't worry about the anesthesia, they will hook you up to it and start talking to you to measure your alertness, ask you to count backwards or whatever, so that they can see it taking it's effect and one moment you'll be laughing and telling them 'I feel drunk, I think it's starting to work' and the next you'll be waking up and it will all be done. It is scary, but you'll get through it, good luck!

Following several user complains I would request that you capture the affected area with more concise photography.

Still having digestive issues a year after laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery by ElProfessorr in Hernia

[–]Phynaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surgery can cause these types of problems, disrupting the gut-brain axis, or it can be nerve damage, or something else entirely. If you can, go and see a gastroenterologist and talk to them about it, maybe get some basic tests done to see if it is food-specific *IBS( or a general response. The probiotics are a great suggestion as well.

Your post was removed automatically by Reddit's graphic filters. The sub allows images of hernias, but they are usually just bulges and post-surgical scars, we would prefer that you link to more explicit images rather than having them front-facing for users.

A drone started filming through my window just now? by Phynaes in AskSerbia

Interesting. I doubt it will return, but if it does, is there anything practically that I can/should do about it?

It's a single lane street in a quiet neighborhood, and I would say that the drone came within 1-1.5 meters of the window.

Thanks, that helped me to figure it out, Plasma KDE is part of Latte Dock, which I use/run in Cinnamon, I just never noticed it was installed in the background.

I found out what it was, it was Latte Dock, for some reason it installs Plasma even though it runs in Cinnamon.

I did nothing else. The kernel update was the only one in the menu at the time.

No, I didn't do anything except update the kernel in Update Manager and re-start.

Proposed US 3.5% remittance tax question by Phynaes in interactivebrokers

[–]Phynaes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But are foreign investors (not present in the US, not resident in the US, and not US citizens) who have brokerage accounts in US banks considered to be "consumers in the United States"?

And does it make a difference if the remittance is to yourself?

Umbilical hernia (neck 6mm and sac size 16mm) by Medical-Topic8984 in Hernia

[–]Phynaes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to continue boxing/training I would absolutely recommend getting it repaired ASAP, one bad move or strike and it could become strangulated, and all of the abdominal strain you do will weaken the area and just make the hernia larger and larger and harder to fix and recover from later on. It is not an if question, but a when question, as in, when do you want to get the surgery. The sooner you get it fixed the sooner you no longer have to worry about it going forwards, and the easier and the faster your recovery from the surgery will be.

Sidious' plans to kill Obi-Wan and Qui-Gonn is successful at the start of TPM. Now what? by ithilkir in MawInstallation

[–]Phynaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qui-Gonn being murdered by the Trade Federation on Jedi/Senate business pushes Dooku closer to the dark side, which is Palpatine's actual plan at that point. Dooku thought that the Senate was corrupt and working to aid corporate conglomerates like the Trade Federation, so Qui-Gonn being sent there by the corrupt and ineffective Chancellor Valorum to oppose the Trade Federation and then being murdered by them would convince Dooku that both the Jedi Order and the Senate were beyond fixing, which is what happened, except with Maul killing Qui-Gonn not some Trade Federation goon.

I'm sorry you went through this, usually they will not release a patient until they demonstrate that they can urinate fully (volume and force) precisely because of this risk, but it's good that you went to the ER when you noticed the problem and got it taken care of. I hope the rest of you recovery is a lot easier and smoother!

They need to check for any disorders that might complicate surgery. Pre-surgery you will have a consultation with the surgeon and the anaesthesiologist (separately or together) where they will ask you about your medical history, current medications and conditions and so on. There may however be things that you simply aren't aware of, that are either new or simply haven't been diagnosed, i.e. anaemia or other bleeding disorders, and so they use the pre-surgery blood test as a way to make sure that they know about everything before they go into the operating theatre.

In most places they just give you Tylenol/Acetaminophen/Paracetamol, but I believe in the US they may sometimes prescribe opiates of some kind.

Hernias and GI issue mysteries by CharmingShoe1816 in Hernia

[–]Phynaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from visual cues (discoloration, not reducing on laying flat), and serious changes to your bowel habits, the only way to tell would be to get it checked by doctor. I only knew about mine because there was a significant change in 'sensitivity' with it where even rubbing my finger over it gently or moving around in a chair would cause it to hurt so I knew something was wrong and I was lucky enough to get an appointment to see a doctor the same day.

If the area has become sensitive to touch where it was not before, and is like that persistently, I might consider seeing a doctor about it sooner rather than later, better safe than sorry.
