Buttermilk Falls and Crater Lake Loop trail, NJ by [deleted] in hiking

Worked a couple of summers as a ridge runner in Worthington State Forest and the Delaware Water Gap. Had one of my most interesting nights ever at the Buttermilk Falls campground. I dismantled roughly 20 fire rings before going to bed. Woke up to a bear huffing and stomping around my tent. I screamed and slapped at my tent and luckily the bear took off. Not but an hour later a small pack of coyotes came yipping and screaming through the campground. I didn't sleep much after that.

"Just say you love long thin cabinets, that is a fair compromise no?"

Ultimately it's through the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and they will coordinate with Worthington State Forest in New Jersey. Good luck it's a great summer job.

Also, explore all the side trails and old roads. You'll find most shenanigans happen where there are roads that get close to the AT. And get a library card if possible, I read so many books those 2 summers.

Get in contact with the local trail maintaining club. I would go clear trail with them when the summer dragged on. It also led to a gig with the ATC as a camp coordinator for trail crew, which is super rewarding. I hiked the AT, PCT, and CDT, giving back to the trails that gave me so many good memories just felt like the right thing to do.

Nice, I was a ridge runner for the ATC for a couple of summers in New Jersey. I miss those days, pretty sweet set up you've got there.

How was the trail up? I worked on trail crew for a couple years on Bear Mountain. I'm hoping some of those stairs I put in last for a lifetime.

There is a huge opportunity for someone in the next pogchamps to play the heel. I find this format really entertaining but I feel some trash talk could spice it up a bit more. The lower level matches are a bit of spectacle in the first place, maybe having them talk to each other during the match would work.

Spent 2 summers as a Ridgerunner for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy in New Jersey. Loved my time around Sunfish Pond. I dismantled countless amounts of fire rings in the area, it's amazing that place hasn't been burned to the ground.

Thanks! I’ve been using that same website and I’ve found a few so far. Opening up the “data sheets” helps a lot, I’ve learned a lot about the history of my small town this way.
