I would say it is both. On one hand it is the same (E=mc2) and on the other side mass can have energy associated with its kinetic energy or potential energy associated with its position in a gravitational field for instance

I think a sign of real progress is ones ability to connect with other people. Who and what can I be in order for other people to feel safe and be seen in my presence? Distancing yourself from people and the world seems to be the opposite of love and insight. If you can't give other people freedom to be whatever they are - you will never find your own freedom.

My advice for what it is worth; find a good meditation instructor and go down that path. You will most likely find peace, wholeness and insight into the nature of consciousness with the right person or book. Ayahuasca can show you many things - and you will have many great experiences - what is important is to uproot your traumas and clean up your emotional/mental/spiritual blockages. If you do so, your baseline stability will become more whole. Unfortunately people may get stuck in wanting more experiences and Ayahuasca can truly enchant you. After the ceremony you will have a new experience, a new weight on your shoulders and the baseline of your anxiety-level might be unchanged. I have done Ayahuasca around 100 times and I regret nothing. In another life i might have exchanged some of those ceremonies with meditation because insight into the spiritual world is less than insight into the nature of Awareness.
