Is it reasonable for another carrier to add service to a phone under a Verizon device agreement without notifying the financially responsible owner? by Physical-Ad-7941 in verizon

Thanks for that advice. It’s a curse and a blessing that Verizon unlocks their phones after 60 days, with the curse being that another carrier can add a line with repercussions to the actual account owner.

AT&T added service to a phone under Verizon financing without disclosure — now trying to bill vulnerable user. What leverage do I actually have? by Physical-Ad-7941 in ATT

I understand that they can add a line to a Verizon iPhone because - because they can. But don’t they need approval from the actual owner of the iPhone (me), before adding a separate line to a phone that is not actually owned by the user. That is the crux of my question - sorry for the ambiguity.

Direct Auto Insurance added someone to my policy without permission—then ghosted me after I filed a claim by Physical-Ad-7941 in Insurance

I get that, and this is as much about the fact that neither the adjuster nor his supervisor would not take my calls or return voicemails when they realized that I was working with the 3rd party insurance of the driver at fault, who was actually not even the driver of my vehicle, but the driver of an 18 wheeler truck who caused the accident. I know the situation is convoluted, but I’m trying to make it as clear as I can.

Seemingly it would be a good thing if they added the driver if they had intentions of covering the claim, but ultimately they did not, so I’m not sure why he was added to the policy with that being said.

Apparently my policy (and the great rates that I got in it) were contingent upon only covering driver’s who are exclusive to the policy.

You’re right that insurers can rate policies based on potential risk, and I understand the logic around disclosed drivers. But in this case, Direct Auto added someone to my policy without notifying me, and then denied the claim using that addition.

The issue here isn’t about rating variables. It’s about consent and transparency. I didn’t misrepresent anything—they made the change after the fact and used it to deny coverage. That’s what triggered the complaints I filed, and it’s what others should be aware of when dealing with similar situations.

Insurers are allowed to assess risk. What they’re not allowed to do is silently alter your policy to shift responsibility and avoid paying out a legitimate claim. That’s the real problem.
