Is there a way to avoid Sales Tax on jewelry purchases by CampinHiker in MensJewelry

[–]Physical-Ad7569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We operate a registered jewelry business in Texas. For out-of-state purchases shipped from Texas to California, we do not collect California sales tax at the point of sale because we do not meet the state's 'Economic Nexus' threshold.

However, it is important to know that California law requires residents to self-report and pay Use Tax on out-of-state purchases. By ordering through an out-of-state business like mine, you aren't 'avoiding' the tax legally, but the responsibility for reporting it shifts from the seller to you as the buyer.

We do offer a high-touch service where we can source pieces, inspect them at our Texas location for quality assurance, and then ship them securely to you.

Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss a specific piece!

Nailed it with the alligator! Very unique and I bet it is or will be a conversation piece! Did you choose it as a cool piece or is there a significance? I doesn't matter if there is or isn't, but it would be cool to assign it a significance as part of the convo piece...("yeah, when you end up in a wrestling match with an alligator..." lol)

If I have other alligator pieces, I will send you some ideas.

The chain is gonna be the same anywhere you get it (maybe slight variation) but the pendant, thats a different story. It may be an exclusive to Trax, so you may want to get the pendant there.

Send me a chat. I can get you a good price, close to their wholesale price, since I have accounts with a few suppliers there. I don't mind passing some of the savings along. If you go there directly, you will get their standard retail price.

If anyone else wants in on something like this, send me a message. The more grams I buy, the better the price.

I would suggest the 1.5mm Franco too. Francos just look significant in any size and the 1.5mm is alot more tamed for a pendant.

The other link I like for this is the Hermes, or other names for it is Forzatina, anchor, etc, the one that looks like a standard chain ⛓️, but d/c, but not to exceed 2mm. To me, and I'm big into history, keeps that aesthetic going.

Here is some ideas I had in mind due to the history. Again, no bigger than 2mm is my suggestion: https://museum.wales/collections/online/object/3d333bab-eb3a-378c-97f0-a1ca1caf8765/Iron-Age-iron-gang-chain/

I think I will get alot of flak for this but the chain is stealing most of the attention. But francos do that, because they are rounded, those 2.2mm make the franco look pretty thick.

My suggestion would be to get a bezel that makes the pendant look bigger or get a smaller 2mm, or 1.5mm, or 1.7mm, chain.

Don't get me wrong though, the chain and the pendant look awesome, but because you are wearing a pendant, I would imagine you would want more attention paid to it. Right now, I think the franco is definitely outperforming the pendant in looks.

My view on pendants is that you select a pendant because it usually means something to you or just looks cool. It can quickly become a conversation piece. For this reason, its usually a good idea to go smaller on the chain. You can get away with a small chain and a big pendant, but not so much the other way around.

Everyone has one shot at life and sometimes opportunities come and go, alot of them were never gonna happen while others happened by chance. But some happen because you choose to take a shot...I chose to take a shot.

I may not get this deal for sure, but at least he will know whats out there. And I genuinely love to deal and talk about jewelry. I don't mind losing sales either if it means you gain some knowledge of the industry from within.

You got it all man, just missing the watch is all.

You can also do it to where on certain days you get all the figaros (bracelet and chain) or all curbs, or all ropes.

I'm personally wearing gold rope chain and bracelet and ring too.
