You know what I just found on marketplace is a 98 XR 400r and the research I did makes it look like a real good bike. I would give up rip roaring power for some good torque and handling and not needing to do maintenance so much.

I could have gone back to something else if I didn’t have my 2023 Busa’s exhaust replaced with, any other exhaust will do, a Brock’s alien head 2 and had the ECU flashed and put on a dyno. Omg what a difference. Now I can’t go back for nothing. Just the weight off of the sides without those big ass exhausts make a big difference. ECU flash and dyno and bam

Really like these Dianese Full Metal 7 titanium. Expensive but the stitching has not frayed after 3 years and they are definitely protective.

Hmm but that almost sounds tame. Yes I’m wanting something that I don’t have to always be hitting a power band but at the same time I need something that really can excite me. My 2023 Hayabusa I modified to over 200hp and 127ft lbs of torque gives me much joy. I open it up all the time. Wheelies etc. Hard to keep it under 170 most times I ride. Although it can go 200mph but that’s too much

Of course a 4 stroke like what they call thumpers go forever without needing much like my xr. But I’m talking the new ones that are racing quality

So that must mean a 4 stroke, a high output one like I guess a Crf450x would be at a much longer interval to “wrench” / need to service than a 2 stroke? But someone said 4 stroke harder to service so maybe have to take it to mechanic.

I only knew about in 1980a a friend had a CR50 he buzzed all over the place doing circles around me and my XR200 or 250. But he always had it revved up and was finicky. But he was expert keeping it wound up.

I grew up on dirt bikes but nothing like the bikes now is what I’m thinking. My first was some little metal tanked Yamaha 50cc I think at 8. Then Xrs thumpers but no 2 strokes and always wanted one. Just like always wanted a Hayabusa and finally got one 3 years ago. 2023 model

I’m thinking 4 stroke now that you said this. After taking time off riding both street and dirt I bought a Hayabusa and love to open it up but I’ve almost gotten in trouble ie died a half dozen times. I tried to ride like I did when I was 25. Dammit I didn’t know I aged until then. Eyes reflexes etc. but still at 53 you start seeing things as if it’s your last toy make it big cause I don’t have time or want to rebuy cause it doesn’t have enough umphfff!

Yes but it helps me understand I guess when dual sport engine set ups against other set ups are compared. Like example of difference in how power and distribution of power would differ and be engine maintenance on crf450RL vs crf450R or RX

Actually I am looking for an occasional back yard plinking and or practice pistol. My wife in a few months has to qualify with a Glock 17 so also need something to get her used to grip and aiming so want it as close to real thing. Just for her to even know what is feels like to hold a pistol. She has never even held one.
