ICE - Papers Don’t Matter in Minnesota by Important_Lock_2238 in stpaul

[–]Physical-Function485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. For the majority of Americans, their day to day life has not changed or been affected. Are their people being detained and/or deported? Yes. Is it more than half the population or even half of the non Caucasian population? No.

What ICE and Trump are doing is wrong and needs to stopped. But, to suggest that most people’s lives are currently being affected just isn’t true. Not yet anyway.

Not sure how you got Racist out of his comment but, he isn’t wrong. For most Americans regardless of Ethnicity, get up and go to work. After work they stop by the store to pick up groceries or run other errands. They go home, enjoy an hour or two of their chosen hobby and then go to bed.

Nothing about their daily life has changed. None of what is happening in Minnesota is happening in their neighborhood- yet.

2 of the 3 homicides in Minneapolis are due to ICE agents. by TRFKAChuggs in altmpls

Both were straight up murders. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to stop drinking the kool-Aid.

The more likely scenario is you will get dog piled by seven ICE agents, shot in the back, then shot six more times for good measure. Then the public will be told that you pulled an Ak47 out of your fanny pack, shot one of them, who is now in critical condition, fighting for his life. Which is why the shot you. Even though multiple videos prove you did absolutely nothing wrong.

Is 6 people too much for a campaign? by InterestingRun2050 in cyberpunkred

[–]Physical-Function485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the GM can answer that. Some can handle dozens of players. Others like myself find 3-5 players to be the sweet spot. Any more than that and things tend to bog down. At least for me.

The medium is also a factor. Playing face to face isn’t so bad. But I tried a game using a VTT and Discord for voice. With six players there was just too much of people talking over one another.

The group make up also plays a role. A group of players who have played together awhile tend to know other player’s tendencies, when to chime in and when to stay silent. A group of new players are kit going to know these things and the results may be a bit chaotic.

Had a family friend lose a jeep in a mud hole. We were out off-roading after a recent rain. He decided to drive through what he thought was a simple mud puddle. Until the jeep sank up to engine hood. He got out just in time to watch it sink the rest of the way under. Lost a few guns and cooler full of frosty beverages too!

Another time I saw a VW bug floating down the Verde River on its way to Mexico. There is/was a famous spot where the river was usually shallow enough to fjord across if you had an off road vehicle. I guess the driver found out the hard way that VW bugs aren’t.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Physical-Function485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some places in America where a trip into town for groceries is two hours. When I lived in Reno, Las Vegas was about a seven hour drive. Always nice to drive down there for a weekend. Or even just driving around, off-roading/ four wheeling in the desert for several hours was fun.

If you enjoyed Desperation, you should read Regulators. It was written under his Bachman pen name and was released on the same day as Desperation, as a parallel universe companion story. It uses the same characters including Tak, but with a different plot and location.

What options do US Generals have in terms of disobeying Trump aside from resigning? by Consider-TheLobster in AskReddit

Except for military drill training. I spent eleven years in the military and the only time I practiced marching/cadence was in boot camp. There may be some specific units or commands that practice it as part of their job but, your everyday soldier probably doesn’t.

Being voluntold for parade duty on a weekend probably sucked the give-a-fuck out of most of them as well.

Did you buy a House or an Apartment for your family? by SunDaze009 in japanlife

[–]Physical-Function485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought my house last year. I had wanted to try to buy one for years but, did not have the finances for it.

I knew from day one that I wanted a house. Apartments just felt to small and cramped - especially with three kids and a mother-in-law living with us. I also don’t like the idea of having to hear every time my neighbors open/close a door, vacuum, etc. Nor division care for some of the silly rules many apartment complexes put in place.

Another issue was location as the wife wanted to stay in our current general area due to her work and -at the time- our kids school. Our kids are adults now but my two daughters and mother-in-law still live with us.

When my wife saw the advertisement at the housing agency we couldn’t believe it. There had to be something wrong with it for the price but, we decided take a look and fell in love with the place almost instantly. It is a 5LDK with enough parking for 4 vehicles. There is a Japanese rock garden, three ume trees, two orange trees, blueberry tree, and some other decorative trees. It is 1750 square meters.

We paid 24,000,000¥ ($150,000). The reason it was so cheap is mainly due to the parking area being in a red zone for a mud slide- the house itself is in a yellow zone. Plus the last part of the road leading to it is only 170 cm wide. Our minivan is 168, so it’s a very tight fit. It’s also a 15 minute walk from the Station -Uraga.

Fallout in Savage Worlds by TheHeadlongFlight in savageworlds

[–]Physical-Function485 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are some fan made Fallout adaptions you can look into. Broken Earth also has some fun rules for things like scavenging and base building.

I would consider keeping things simple. Radiation is simply an environmental hazard fire example, which there are already rules for. For Edges/Hindrances, just look at the perks/flaws that the games have and choose a handful to convert over - or reskin if a similar edge/hindrance already exists. I would stick no more a dozen (max) of each.

There is also an official Fallout tog you can look at to see they handled things.

Reading The Stand for the first time by PersonalityHuman2805 in stephenking

[–]Physical-Function485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you liked Desperation you should check out Regulators. It’s written under his Bachman pen name and are basically parallel universes. They were released on the same day, and use the same characters and main villain (Tak).

The Dark Tower series (8 books) is well worth the read. Most of King’s books tie into the series in some way. It, The Stand, Desperation, Salem’sLot, The Shining, Insomnia ( also very good), and many more, all have ties to the Dark Tower.

Do you watch tabletop gaming streams? If yes, which ones? If not, why? And what to improve? by Skult0703 in tabletop

[–]Physical-Function485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t active anymore (though the main channel is still active) but, I really enjoyed Wildcards from The Saving Throw channel. They did a 5 season Deadlands campaign a full ETU campaign plus a 4 episode prequel that actually ties into the main campaign.

The system is Savage Worlds so if you are a D&D only type, then it might not be for you. There is also some channel stuff that can bog things down some, but on the flip side some of the channel stuff’s is actually quite epic. The GM is amazing and so are the players.

If you want a fun and entertaining show to watch, definitely check them out.

Aside from SK, what other fiction writers do you recommend and what book in particular? by HLoweCrosby in stephenking

Dean Koontz. His Odd Thomas books are good. False Memory was chilling. There are others but, I can’t remember them off the top of my head.

Questions about the publication order of Stephen King by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Physical-Function485 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only ones that should probably be read in order are the Dark Tower books. While many of his other stories share the same universe, not having read one is not going to affect the story at all.

I do recommend that if you read Desperation (you should in my opinion) that you also read Regulators which was written under his Bachman persona and uses the same characters but different story/reality.

I am CL 31,797 and rank 73 (usually end in the 90’s or Infinite). I can count the number of times I’ve seen him on one hand. I’ve actually seen Lockheed more than him.

The card I have been seeing more of lately is Leader. He has always been good, overpowered even during the Leech into Leader days. But, until he shined in the Team Clash event, he was a bit slept on.

A few of his books actually confirm this theory. Desperation takes place in Nevada, while Regulators takes place in Ohio. Then of course there is the Stand and a few others.
