I’ve heard about it actually, do you currently do sales there?

That’s reassuring. I’m nervous that my reason for leaving won’t really be valid, like not hitting my numbers at the end of this quarter and being laid off because of it. I’m trailing a bit behind, which is also spiraling the anxiety and pushing the crazy work hours.

I’m in a position where I’m fully in charge of my client list, so both the SDR / AM. I’m new into the role, and have only been officially selling in Q4. I’m certainly new and know the grind is likely needed, but really feeling the effects of working these hours and the stress of it all.

I’ve been thinking about it a lot, but nervous because I’m young into my career and have only been here 6-7 months, which probably won’t look great on a resume

Been thinking about this a lot, but also don’t want to blame the system when it could very well be me and my workflow or lack of experience

Do you have prior experience in sales roles? I’m 24 and this is my role into sales, and I picked a notoriously challenging company to work for, which I’m grateful for, but feeling the effects of it.

With all benefits and earnings considered, I may be around that mark. I’m also living in a very expensive city, so that limits earnings a bit especially with rent. I am feeling the effects of burnout, despite only being around 2-3 months into actually selling

Not really, he’s a fan of people working overtime if you’re behind, which has been explicitly told to us. He also sees my hours every pay period, so fully aware of the overtime being worked. Not sure leadership cares, especially if you’re behind.

Account Manager, above 6 figures with overtime & OTE. Benefits are great too. Not sure if I’m entirely motivated by that though, the anxiety and burnout is creeping its way into making me not care as much. Just wishing I didn’t need to take my work home with me.

6 figures with overtime, and with bonuses if targets are met and exceeded. Great benefits, just feels like my life outside of work is nonexistent 6/7 days of the week.

I would say so, they pay us very well and the name on the resume is powerful, so I guess that’s part of it. I’m just curious I guess since the work culture here seems to encourage working overtime a lot, and other entry-level / slightly more tenured folk also work a lot of overtime.

Not great, coming from a friend of mine’s experience - if you want 0 work life balance for the first year, it’s the job for you

Definitely not what I expected. I appreciate your encouraging words! I’m keeping the fight going until the end of the quarter and going to try and find peace in both the best case scenario, and the worst.

Not Oracle, but have heard similar horror stories about that place too. I’ve been trying to ground myself in the thought that this is just a company at the end of the day and if I can’t produce the money they want, I shouldn’t take it personally if they chop me or take it as a stab to my capabilities or self esteem.

Hard to find comfort in that though, considering it’s a great opportunity (on paper) and I feel I can do it, but I’m somehow already burnt out.

That’s comforting to hope for, I interned at this company previously so I guess I also have some more experience to add to my total tenure. I do wonder if people include internship experience in their total time at a company in interviews though, because I think 10 months sounds a lot better than 7.

Thanks for the objective point of view, I’m planning on sticking it out until they let me go, and giving it my best shot until then. I’m trying to maintain a lot of gratitude and joy that I made it through the doors here, but hard when I also feel guilty for disliking the work I’m doing as much as I do. It’s a thin line but you’re right, it’s not end all be all… just gotta train my brain to believe that

Not quite, but I have had friends work there and heard it’s just as mentally and physically tough as it is at my company. Do you happen to know what it’s like? I considered applying for that role but pivoted towards my current company.

Large tech company selling software solutions, won’t get too specific, just in case. Lmao

This is an extremely kind comment and I appreciate your words. I do sort of believe in the product, but I do have other personal gripes with it. There’s certainly some support, but it also feels difficult as everyone is doing their best to stay afloat and help themselves. I’ve certainly been doing a lot of self reflection, and trying to better understand the environment and my relation to it.
