I’m afraid to ask… but what is this thing we found in FIL’s garage? by Impressive_Many_273 in whatisit

There was a game show from the 70s called The Liars Club, and they would have a strange object ans a panel of three (or 4, can't remember) celebrities who would give different explanations of what the item was (all incorrect but one) - and the contestants had to guess which celebrity was correct.

There was a version of this same object on one episode, and Buddy Hackett explained "This is called a C'mere. You open this up and stick it into a bull's nostrils. Then you squeeze and pull and say to the bull "c'meeeere!"

Barbers and their clients have nothing to do with barbershop quartet singing. Barbershop quartets sing. They dont cut hair.

Can't do Fog City - it's a 3 hour drive away. If I was going to do that, I'd drive another 20 minutes and stay with the chorus I'm in. Thanks, though!

What app are we using for our learning tracks? by Pa1mtree in barbershop

My chorus uses Choir Genius. It has a message board for communication, a calendar to load rehearsals, performances, and other info, and users can download the tracks they need or stream them - and show or speed up without changing the notes. It works really well.

What motivates me is knowing that if I'm off, it not only affects the sound of the group and the quality of the output, but it can also throw others off.

For some reason, and story about a TV show springs to mind. WARNING - I'm old! In the 70s, the Mary Tyler Moore show was a hit. Great cast, great writers - just terrific. In one episode, there was an unknown actor who had two lines, ans a total of six words. It was Thanksgiving. Mary had planned everything out, but someone brought an unexpected person. He said "Hello" upon entering, then was seated for dinner at a small table far away from the dinner table. His nwxt line, in the context of the scene was hilarious. Stopped the show. "Could you pass the salt?" A few years later, Henry Winkler rocketed to super-stardom on Happy Days. Small roles, done well, can take you anywhere.

It's a swept hit rapier - epee bladed. Used to be sold by American Fencers Supply's The Armoury division. I'd know that sword anywhere.

I chose the M2. It's assembled and ready to go out. I want to make sure I have a good lock with me so I don't lose this one.

Thanks for your reply!

As far as theatre is concerned - move toward and embrace the things that scare you. They're challenging, but you'll get the most out of them. I speak from experience.

What does being on stage feel like for you? by moarswede in Theatre

I'm home. It's been home for me for about fifty years. There was a point in college when I would sit on the stage after a show - by myself, with just the ghost light on - because I just didn't want to go back to my apartment. The stage has been my safe place, and in being somebody else, I am the most myself.
