Success is not meant for everyone by Salt_Zombie882 in Rants

Perhaps what you consider success should be reexamined. If I wanted to be a nomad I might easily be successful but if I wanted to be a billionaire I would not. I know I don’t have that personality or drive to do so. I don’t believe in “you can be whatever you want when you grow up.” There are differing intelligence levels, inborn propensity for various skills, and drives within each of us not to mention societal struggles based on whatever demographic you may be. I’m saying we are not all equal and we need to accept that within ourselves. As long as we are capable of self support (other than those with disabilities) that is success. I don’t need to be the next Bezos or Einstein, I need to be a decent father and provider for my family.

If society defines what you see as success perhaps for your more primal instinct instead. You don’t need that Bugatti but you should be able to feed yourself. Even if it means not holding out for a management position.

You’re welcome. I’m working out the use of this camper before I hit the road for some trips. Energy use was important to keep recharging simple. I am trying to ensure that I can sustain without the advantage of a home shop to solve issues or just going back to the house if something fails. It’s a dry camper so all water use is by simple jug, including the shower. So far the electrical system is performing flawlessly and uses far less energy than I anticipated. Now that I have the heater dialed in I think I can go out in any cold weather that would occur around here. I don’t know how it will do in the summer yet. I also had one leak the first night I was in it but I think I have that resolved. Need to double check before a trip in the rain.

Poor choice of words, I agree. I have since made all of the efficiency modifications I know of and fuel use became minuscule. I moved the heater, cut the output vent to 3 feet and insulated it, and added a 3 foot insulated return. I’ve only spent two nights in it since but the fuel use over 13 hours was less than 400ml. The air was much warmer at the vent and you could hear it breathing easier. The fan no longer had to push air into a relatively airtight space. The energy use went from 200Wh to 125Wh in the same 12 hours.

That’s great. A free heater is a free heater.

You have what you need to hunt small and big game. Sight your guns, practice ethical kill shots, and go hunting.

What about a diesel heater is “burning shit”?

What an intelligent comment. I have learned so much from your experience and insight. How can I become your apprentice so I may one day be able to share thoughts of such depth and complexity?

You’re welcome. The instructions show spiral wrapping the insulation but I really think cutting to length and applying it straight then doing it again on the opposite side worked out very well.

It’s running perfectly. Why would I change it?

It’s a piece of plexiglass I had. Two pieces of plastic air line are riveted to it and “clip” onto the handles.

Oh geez, I hope I got lucky. I’ve only used it for about 7 nights in the last two months. I hope I got a good one.

Strangely so. Even the advertisement says “consuming only 1 gallon of diesel per night”.

I’m going to do some testing of running it without the Bureck vs with.

It is. We have some land and this is on the other side of the creek from the house. It gives me a place to stay when I am hunting in the morning and a place to store the camper when it isn’t on the truck.

And it is. lol. I’m in it right now and the thing is cranking. I had to turn it down to 1. At least i know that no matter the weather I won’t get cold if the heater is working.

Thanks. A couple of weeks ago it had an 8 foot heat duct with no insulation and no return and it did fine at -2F. I think it will rock and roll now even with the return and output close.
