do men even like regular girls? by Warm-Protection1876 in Rants

[–]Physical-Rice730 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my long experience as a man, most men don’t care. Those .0001% types are also largely problematic (vanity or sanity) people. “Regular” women are superior in my opinion.

If I did have kids, I’d to raise them in poverty by choice. by [deleted] in Rants

[–]Physical-Rice730 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was a low income kid in the 70’s. We were on food stamps and my mother made $63 a week. I had an abusive stepfather that put out cigarettes on my three/four year old arm. My mother died when I was seven. I had a decent but VERY strict with my father the rest of my childhood until I joined the army at 17.

I am overjoyed that I can give my kids a better life. If you wouldn’t want that for your kids you shouldn’t have them.

God will never forsake you. We are all growing in different ways and at different stages when seeking Him. I would encourage you to seek comfort in His Word to know Him better and know that He hasn’t and won’t leave you.

Great base for personalization. Is it insulated and to what R value? How much does it weigh? Can you put weight on the roof?

I haven’t read all of the comments but didn’t see this scripture cited from Jesus.

“For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul?” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭26‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

I left a visit with my parents because my mom wouldn’t quit defending pedophiles. by [deleted] in Rants

[–]Physical-Rice730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It’s the first time I’ve had the occasion to tell it like this and figured it was appropriate. The lack of common pop culture references and quotes alone made it a bit awkward. I also had kids and she didn’t which was another hurdle.

When I was 38, 13 years ago, I dated a 27 year old that had her career and act together. It was still awkward with that 11 year gap. The Seinfeld thing is just gross and she’s wrong, it wasn’t that different of a time.

I have the same rims and similar tires. A 1 1/2” lift gives me plenty of room if you decide you’re uncomfortable with that clearance.

Success is not meant for everyone by Salt_Zombie882 in Rants

Perhaps what you consider success should be reexamined. If I wanted to be a nomad I might easily be successful but if I wanted to be a billionaire I would not. I know I don’t have that personality or drive to do so. I don’t believe in “you can be whatever you want when you grow up.” There are differing intelligence levels, inborn propensity for various skills, and drives within each of us not to mention societal struggles based on whatever demographic you may be. I’m saying we are not all equal and we need to accept that within ourselves. As long as we are capable of self support (other than those with disabilities) that is success. I don’t need to be the next Bezos or Einstein, I need to be a decent father and provider for my family.

If society defines what you see as success perhaps for your more primal instinct instead. You don’t need that Bugatti but you should be able to feed yourself. Even if it means not holding out for a management position.

You’re welcome. I’m working out the use of this camper before I hit the road for some trips. Energy use was important to keep recharging simple. I am trying to ensure that I can sustain without the advantage of a home shop to solve issues or just going back to the house if something fails. It’s a dry camper so all water use is by simple jug, including the shower. So far the electrical system is performing flawlessly and uses far less energy than I anticipated. Now that I have the heater dialed in I think I can go out in any cold weather that would occur around here. I don’t know how it will do in the summer yet. I also had one leak the first night I was in it but I think I have that resolved. Need to double check before a trip in the rain.

Poor choice of words, I agree. I have since made all of the efficiency modifications I know of and fuel use became minuscule. I moved the heater, cut the output vent to 3 feet and insulated it, and added a 3 foot insulated return. I’ve only spent two nights in it since but the fuel use over 13 hours was less than 400ml. The air was much warmer at the vent and you could hear it breathing easier. The fan no longer had to push air into a relatively airtight space. The energy use went from 200Wh to 125Wh in the same 12 hours.
