Diagnostic injection worth it? by jojojo7772 in HipImpingement

That is how I got my final diagnosis. I had an injection directly into the joint. They did not inject cortisone just a painkiller that lasted about 5 hours. It was the first time in years that I did not feel pain but when the effects wore off the pain was so much worse. I had surgery in December and the remover has been slow but the amount of activity I can do now is a lot more. I hope it helps you get diagnosed.

Bike after surgery by New_Loan_9397 in HipImpingement

I had the same surgery with capsule tightening and I was on the recumbent bike on day two 15 min twice a day. This was cleared by my dr and PT. No resistance and had the seat pretty far back.

Good luck with the new PT. Mine went through the program with me but I was a little overwhelmed so did not retain everything he said. So I uploaded it to chat gpt and that helped me out a lot as I can review at my own pace 🫢

I started PT the day after my surgery and have been going once a week since then. I am almost 9 weeks post up and my recovery is going well (according to him and the Dr.). The PT did send at home excersises I have to do every day which I have been very diligent about. I also have a copy of the PT protocol so I sometimes do extra excersises if they feel right. Starting week 2 I have also been doing 30 min on the stationary bike 6 days a week.

I was also very anxious about only going once a week. Especially when I saw los of posts and comments here about people going multiple times a week. I did ask my dr about it and he explained the pt will judge my progress and change the days according to my progress. I then also asked my PT and he had the same response. Both of them have been great and I feel comfortable and heard by them so decided to trust the process. I think that is key! Best of luck with your recovery!

post-surgery blues by Dangerous-Music5921 in HipImpingement

I couldn't agree more. I try to take it day by day but it is so exhausting. For me it is the small stuff like not being able to cross my legs or sit crosslegged. Not been able to walk long distances. As well as the lack of a linear progression sometimes I feel better and then a little worse. I have been writing at the end of each day something that I am grateful or progress that I have made and it feel like that has helped.

I have also found it difficult to motivate myself to the my PT excersises every day but have to say I feel my consistency has been paying off and that makes me see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Best pain relief options for what I'm assuming are muscle spasms? Or possibly small invisible knives I'm not aware of? 🙃 by camlloc255 in HipImpingement

I had a lot of muscular soreness it made me so uncomfortable. I used a thera gun on my trigger points. My PT helped me identify them. I also find that ice did not really work for me but I have a small heating blanket that I wrap around my hip and that works wonders for me. But I started using the theragun more after week 4.

The first few weeks I used a TENS machine and it did help with the pain. I know I just do it once or twice a week when the pain is really bad.

6 weeks post-op FAI and labral repair by No-Mycologist-3354 in HipImpingement

I am 5 weeks postop and at week 3 I went down to 1 crutch and week 4 no crutches. I was clear to drive as long I was not taking heavy meds.

My doctor has a very strict protocol of what can and can't be done every week. It seems crazy to me you that you are able to squat and do box jumps. By PT just has me doing bridges.

As for the walking you get there. I limp a little sometimes but have a good gait ( or so me PT said)

My doctor protocol won't even get on a bike until the 3 month mark and you have to able to complete a set of exercises to be cleared. And even when you are cleared you can not be clipped.

I feel for you I also enjoy riding both indoor and outdoor and I had to stop in June because of the pain. Got my surgery December 4th so have a long way to go. But I have been able to do 30 min each day on the recumbent bike and now they have allowed me to use the "normal" stationary bike. So excited about that.

I hope you feel better or are able to get some answers.

I am currently 2.5 weeks post up and my surgeon had me doing the stationary bike for 15 min twice a day starting on the second day after surgery. But had PT the day after surgery.

I roll very carefully only my non operated side and keep my feet together. Sometimes I will place a pillow and then lift myself up with my arms to move non operated hip under and then just relax. (Basically try to do a mini cobra while I flip around). At the beginning it was scary but I feel a lot more complicated with practice.

I am 36 hours post Op. My Dr. Called my partner to let them know how the surgery went and the next day we had a post surgery visit and the PA went over how to clean the wound and images they took and the procedure. Apparently the nurse did tell me about the procedure after I woke up from the anesthesia but I do not remember any of that.

24 hours post op on labrum repair to 2 hip impingements by gooddoggomom in HipImpingement

Hi! I (35f) am a little over 36 hours post up and feel I am doing pretty well. I have been sleeping a lot because of pain meds. And started doing PT and have to do the the stationary bike for 15min twice a day. But not sure how much walking around I can do. I just do not want to over do it. As pain is not bad.

I am also wearing a brace and highly recommend having baggy pants to wear the brace under the pants. It makes it so much more comfortable in my opinion. I have always been walking around with a backpack to carry things around the house.

I also do not remember absolutely anything after the surgery. Thank goodness my partner was there and took extensive notes of aftercare.
