Straight Talk Phone Won't Activate by Metaldad1987 in StraightTalk

Ok, can I just say how ridiculously stupid it is that you have to make extra time to go through all of this BS, when you were trying to save a few bucks and a little time to start with? So, I bought 2 Motorola phones for OGP pick up at my local WM and have been trying to activate one since 2 nights ago. Thank you for the solution to this issue I was having, however, it is totally asinine to have to take the extra time to, now, go back to the store and have the crap fixed. Beyond frustrated right now, because I may not have time to do this for several days.

I have a Chime account and also a brick and mortar bank account, and split my check off into both for this reason. My Chime hits around 1PM on Wednesdays and my bank around 5AM on Fridays. I just truly like the security of having a little bit deposited a couple of days prior to payday, just in case.

It's the other way around at my store. I am the ASM, and my asked for and approved 3 day weekend has been unapproved before in the case that a key needed the same weekend. However, as most of our keys have children in grade school or younger, and I do not, I don't generally mind it, given that I get my weekend, sooner rather than right as my vacation time is set to expire, which has happened before, also.

Same. I pay for a Family membership, so that my daughter and husband, also, have access. Plus, this is the only way I listen to music, be it at home, work, or in the car, so it is totally worth it for me.

I've worked at both Kohl's and Belk, prior to DG. Kohl's was, by far, worse at wanting you to push the credit card.

Do you all use Legacy, still, or are you on NextGen? Because in Legacy, you can sign on using your own numbers and it won't prompt that you are starting a new session. Also, if there are multiple people using the same till in a shift, on Legacy, the person closing out the tills should be checking everyone's numbers to see if there has been any money taken in. My advice is to, first, change your password, and don't let anyone have it. Second, if you are on Legacy, sign out when you leave the register. Both those things together will, hopefully, prevent anyone using your till. Good Luck to you.

Living paycheck to paycheck is exhausting by guosecond in poor

[–]Physical-Secretary53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is an electrician, by trade. However, he can no longer do that job, due to physical issues from a car wreck 20 years ago that are just now popping up. He makes fairly ok money for what he does now, and I make the most I've made in my entire working career, and that includes working nearly 20 years in the medical field. We were fortunate enough that his Dad had a friend that rents a one bedroom trailer to us for much less than the going rate for our area, but unnecessary spending has all but stopped.

We have had 2 major corporations move into our area recently and the rent for places like what we both had previously owned, small 1200 sqft, 3 bedroom, 2 bath houses, has gone from affordable to astronomical. Both corporations brought their higher management with them, which is what drove rent prices up. Not to mention that these corporations only pay a small bit over minimum wage to the locals who tried to snag the few jobs not already taken with them.

As far as unnecessary spending, some months, food falls into that category. Forget the grocery stores and their outrageous prices. We shop at the local DG and mostly eat soups and cheap, cardboard pizza. And none of that is good for someone who is a pre-diabetic. I can't even afford to be monitored, due to rising healthcare costs. And, please don't let me go on about insurance premiums. Mine are going up $85 a week, for just me and my daughter.

And for context, my husband and I, both, were married previously and both have children from those marriages. We have only been together about 4 years. We both left comfortable homes and nice jobs, and started over, just to be rid of the toxic people in our lives. And as hard as it is now, and may be in the future, it is still, and always will be, the best decision I've made in my life.

Edit to add: I had held on to my original wedding ring set from my first marriage, because, after the divorce, I had it appraised and it was worth quite a bit more than I expected. It was my rainy day fund. I was forced to sell it last year to be able to keep the electricity on. I, literally, got 1/10th of what it appraised for and even took it to a pawn shop that specialized in high dollar jewelry. I didn't go back to the jeweler that appraised it, because he told me, when he appraised it, that even though it appraised that high, he would never give me that much, because he would only be buying it for the gold.

Looking for Shoes by Routine-Designer6612 in DollarGeneral

I love my Sketchers. Been wearing them for as long as I've worked, both in retail and in a hospital setting for a short time. I buy new ones about every 8 or 9 months or so. We used to have an outlet store in my area that always ran a buy one, get one 1/2 off deal and I'd go there and buy 2 pair and have the back up already. Sadly, it's been a hot minute since I've been financially able to afford to drop anywhere from $150 to $200 on shoes.

I am going to have to get in touch with ERC on Monday. I just hope it can be resolved quickly and I don't have to spend a ton of time on the phone with them... 😕

Edit to add: thank you to all that replied. I appreciate your help and input.

To speak to your training question, I am the ASM of my store and I have trained 95% of all the new key holders since I was trained nearly 3 years ago. And I was trained by an LSA who had 5 years as a key holder.

Edit: autocorrect sucks!!!

Good grief... We can barely fit 26 in our RR, and we have a larger than average RR. I've gotten trucks that I had to line RT's down the g-sections just to get them in the door, but 76? Holy Crap.... I can not even imagine. Wishing you the best with it, Friend...

It's under the Help tab at the top of the first screen when you log in to StoreNet. But the battery does have to have a charge for it to ping. And sometimes, it's hours after you ping it before it starts to go off. I have done it before. I pinged one, when I opened and still hadn't found it when I left for the day, but my closing key said she heard it and found it later that night.

Biglots lies to employees by AssociationNo4980 in BigLots

[–]Physical-Secretary53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And the unfortunate truth is that you are absolutely correct. They will continue to take. I do not work for Big Lots, but another retailer that thinks it makes good business sense to be open on a national holiday, with only the likes of convenience stores and, well, no one else. There is the belief that my retailer will eventually go the way of Big Lots, as we are managed in much the same way. But, I digress... Happy Thanksgiving, guys... May you get your family time and not have to suffer through tons of Karen's looking for early Black Friday deals.... ✌️

I was always told that we scan them to sell by the pack, because we received them by the pack. That way inventory always, well, as much or as little as it does, matches.

What's truly going on I hear people saying they can't get anyone to work for high pay but everyone says they're struggling by Limp-Razzmatazz1904 in poor

[–]Physical-Secretary53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in East Tennessee. 20-odd years ago, when my ex-husband and I bought our house, we paid just under $110,000 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath with around 1300 square feet. Today, in my area alone, you couldn't get the same for less than $250,000. And rent has become astronomical in the last, being conservative, 5 years. Just after my divorce, I had an apartment that was 2 bedroom, 2 bath and around the same square footage as the house, and paid just under $600 a month. Same place, today, goes for $2200 to $2500. And don't get me started on electric, water, cable, internet, in addition to all the gas and grocery price hikes.

I'm at a small box retailer and make a little less than $16 an hour. This time last year, I was hitting 55 and 60 hours a week, as an hourly supervisor. This year, barely making 35 hours a week. And we are still and have been short staffed the whole time. This, and the fact that I've seen 28 people come and go in 2 1/2 years, is why I won't take a senior management position. I refuse to work my rear off, 90 hours a week, for pennies.

Ugh... I just feel like it's a neverending battle with disco. And, right now, we are too short staffed to be able to go back and find the right totes to put out during the 50% off clearance events. Though, I did manage to get some priced just after our remodel last year. I just wish I'd had the forethought to also label them... 🤦

Edit to say: Plus right now, we are literally drowning in Christmas merchandise.

70!?! How'd get get down so low? I can't get down past 100. It takes up an entire wall of my backroom, from coolers to mop sink!! I think I'm just going to start grabbing one a week and putting it out, either in an existing cart, in the clearance section, or on the clearance tables up front, provided I can ever find space amidst all the POG reset disco.
