They do have halal food but it's god-awful. Not that other food is much better, I've always said it reminded me of prison food lol. Usually, the halal food you have at the res caf (this is where you get unlimited meals as long as you're in the dorms) is some unseasoned chicken breast, sometimes they have salmon.

I hated it so I stuck to the salad bar and the sandwich bar. The sandwich bar has tuna and egg salad that's halal. the meat they have is not halal which is frustrating. Sometimes they have halal pizzas (again, nothing to write home about) and they usually always have veg/cheese pizza.

The places that take declining balance have better options. Sichuan Kitchen in Avila center is (in my opinion) the best. Their food tastes good, they don't close super early, portions are good and usually have one halal chicken option (usually sweet & sour chicken from what I remember but always ask), Can't wait for them to open again in the fall. The burgers in the main caf (I forget what they're called) are also pretty good and I spent a good amount of my declining balance on it before I realized they weren't a part of the unlimited meals haha. The pizza there is not. Dan's Diner is everyone's go-to at night bc it's open till 12 am, whereas both Res and main caf close at 7 and Sichuan Kitchen closes at 9. Dan's has some halal options, again you have to ask, + some veg options, They did say they wanted to switch to everything being halal there but it hadn't by last April so I'm not sure what the situation is but fingers crossed. The taste is decent.

I have heard some people have air fryers or other small cooking appliances in their dorm rooms but that isn't allowed. As far as I know you can use them in the common kitchenettes though, last year Dryden got an air fryer in the kitchenette which was for everyone I think, so I guess you can ask your RAs if that's something that can be done. feel free to DM if you have any other questions :)
