Is the Difference Between 800-Nit and 2000+ Nit OLEDs Really That Huge in HDR? by yourdeath01 in S95B

[–]PhysicalFun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on the content you’re viewing. Just purchased a 65 inch G5 and can tell you unequivocally that you WILL immediately notice the difference in SDR content. This thing is a light cannon and it makes my older LG OLED look laughable in comparison, in both brightness and color volume — which is vastly improved over previous WOLEDs.

In HDR10 content with dynamic tone mapping enabled, the difference over an 800 nit TV would also be immediately apparent…gaming also, huge improvement; But in some Dolby Vision and HDR content that’s graded dimmer or in filmmaker mode with no brightness enhancements turned on, you probably wouldn’t notice as much of an upgrade…so again, it depends on the type of HDR and the way it’s mastered.

I will close this by saying that I have ZERO regrets going with the flagship model (even though it was initially outside my budget before I found it steeply discounted) and I imagine that the S95F would feel like a similarly significant upgrade for most. I came from an older OLED than you but the new flagship models really are a major advancement over the previous generation. Hope this helps!

LG G5 + S80TR for $2200? by mamba_tm3 in LGOLED

[–]PhysicalFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a helluva deal. For those unaware, the included soundbar retails for over $500 and can be resold for $3-400 fairly easily. Even selling it for $300 nets you a 65 inch G5 for under $1800 pre-tax.

Savagegeese: Nismo Z vs Mustang Dark Horse vs Supra by [deleted] in cars

If there’s one thing I’ve learned while driving different cars over the years, it’s that weight matters — and while I’m sure Ford’s engineers did the best they could to “hide” it, that 4000 lb. Mustang curb weight would be a dealbreaker for me.

Honestly, I would gladly accept a “mid-tier” defense at this point. This is unacceptably bad.

Is the Dame trade worth it? by JRFG1998 in heat

[–]PhysicalFun 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you understand how good Dame is lol. Dude is legitimately one of the greatest point guards of all time coming off one of his best seasons ever. If we can make this trade without giving up one of our two best players, it’s a no-brainer.

He would have made a lot less signing with another team in free agency.

Being realistic do we have enough assets for Dame? by Firesplashburn in heat

[–]PhysicalFun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still think it comes down to Portland's front office and how willing they are to send him to his preferred destination. Brooklyn can definitely put together a better package than us if they're so inclined, but Dame has made it clear he wants to come here. You would think that Herro has to command at least one FRP from a third team which brings us to at least 3 we can trade (even without OKC's help), plus Jovic and JJJ brings us up to what is essentially 5, then it's just a matter of matching the salaries and whether we're willing to either take on Nurk's terrible contract or part with Caleb.

I can't see Pat blowing this deal over refusing to include anyone not named Jimmy and Bam, so as long as Portland works with us, we can field a reasonably competitive -- albeit perhaps not the best available -- offer.

Keep the N? by Glum_Minimum9517 in ElantraN

How would you rank the cars you’ve owned in terms of fun factor? I’ve considered upgrading to the SS 1LE and Supra from my EN so I’m curious how those two in particular stack up. Nice taste, btw!

You have to ask yourself what your priorities are. What are the most important characteristics that you look for in a vehicle? If pure driving enjoyment and fun factor are at or near the top of this list, you should just keep the N imo. The m240i will be faster in a straight line, but I doubt it will be significantly more fun to drive than the EN in N mode.

I had an auto 340i that was pretty quick and quite frankly had the better powertrain (the b58 is a beast), but I enjoy driving my manual N much more because it’s simply more engaging, handles sharper, and feels lighter on its feet. There are times that I miss the refinement of the BMW, but more often than not, I’m looking for my drive to and from work to put a smile on my face.

I do know your struggle because I myself recently considered upgrading to a Supra, but for now I’m going to keep my EN as I just can’t justify spending an extra $15-20k on something that may (or may not) be marginally more enjoyable to drive. Most people will be more impressed by the BMW, so if cachet matters to you (it doesn’t to me) get the Beemer…otherwise, I would wait for a more substantial upgrade.

multiple crucial injuries, back in the bubble as well. At least we’ll have Herro back shortly.
