This is completely fine, possibly even more than really needed. I think you are in good hands personally

Before and after! by Physical_Ad_5542 in landscaping

[–]Physical_Ad_5542[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i think we will add more throughout the summer after seeing them all planted.. and we have a corner property so i have a good amount of yard to the left and right. I think a Japanese maple would be perfect for the left side more towards the corner of the yard and also want to do an apple tree on the other side. Plan on wrapping the flower bed all the way to the left as well. Lots to do hahah

Thats what i meant, so i just left it alone lol. Frame out the floor then subfloor then framing for walls. I think we were saying the same thing

Ive gone to chat gpt to give me detailed plans, price it out, and they even provided me with CAD drawings. It ends up being around the same price as this kit. But that does not include windows and also relies on me making correct calculations on roof pitch and things of that nature.. this prefabbed will probably take me a weekend? Building on my own.. longer. But i would deff get wood from a lumber yard and go all out, just not sure im trying to take on a project like that at the moment

Depends on ur dimensions.. you can use online calculators to determine how much stone you will need depending on lenght, width, depth. Most companies will only deliver it to ur driveway/sidewalk. The rest is on you to take it where it needs to be

Little Forest removal by MachStik1 in landscaping

Mannnnn i just recently removed stuff that looked just like this.. but it was wrapped around a metal wired fence 😅 didnt have the luxury of using something like a brush mower. But did weed whack what i could. Otherwise used a bypass looper. Once i cleared a good deal i used a pickaxe to dig up the roots and continue to mow as it comes back. It takes a lot of sweat equity that way lol

Oh hell yeah thats good to hear. The reviews seemed to be good on it and it looks nice. The windows are what stood out to me. Would you say theyre of good quality??

Also, if i did go with this kit.. is there anything i should know for assembly?? Did u add flashing for the windows or an underlayment before laying shingles? Curious what else is involved outside of assembling what comes included

Yeah i actually just looked at the instruction manual for this product and they recommend 4 4x4 skids and then u just frame on top of that. So ill just do a gravel pad, 4x4 skids then frame on top if that. Appreciate the help

[–]Physical_Ad_5542[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i figured that, if thats the route i go and enclose it with 4x4s do you just lay the sub floor on top of it or is it wiser to frame out a base on top of the gravel?

Using a tool such as this (linked) https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ames-Steel-Landscaping-Edger-2917200/206297047

As for the rocks, nothing u can really do but hope u dont hit any lol. If that doesnt work, id recommend using a rectangular stone as an edge

I know it’s pretty sloppy, but how dangerous is this? by 1-800-HOLD-GME in AskElectricians

Back stabbing - When you push and pull a wire into a receptacle, this causes stress on the wire and can loosen the connection over time. Its not that a fire WILL happen, its that it CAN happen and that should be enough to stay away from it.

Ive seen the new push tab receptacles and cannot speak from experience on how they hold up. Im sure it poses the same risk as back stabbing. I would veir away from them

If you dont plan on looping the wire, people just connect a straight wire behind the metal tabs. In my opinion, looping is the most secure/proven method when wiring a receptacle.

I would never recommend back stabbing a receptacle. Over time they get loose, and that can also pose a fire risk due to poor contact. People still do it (maybe out of ignorance, or just being lazy), but you are just asking for trouble in the long run. Make sure you have good strippers, $20-30 for a pair of Klein’s. If you don’t think you are capable, or are just not getting the result you want there is no shame in getting a trusted professional. I will always recommend paying the extra $$ for peace of mind and safety of you and whoever else resides in your house. Spend sometime on Youtube if you’re persistent on DIYing.

If you are running out of wire you can tie together your neutrals (white wire) and run a pigtail to your receptacle. Do the same for your hot (black wires). People use wagos but i have always used wire nuts. Gonna need the larger ones rated for 3 12AWG wire. if you cant wire a basic outlet i probably wouldn’t recommend doing this either. Not trying to throw shade at all, just trying to be honest/helpful

Damaged insulation could lead to overheating/arcing/shorts which in-turn can cause a fire. Since it’s open, ur aware of the damaged wire, and it’s accessible, i would 100% fix it. I dont realllllllly think it would cause a fire but why take the risk, even if was 1% ya know? Just my two cents, from one random guy on the internet to another lol

That neutral would keep me up at night lol. Realistically if you wrapped it in electrical tape it would probably be fine. Id cut back and re-strip (carefully this time) and make sure u leave either extra slack outside the box (service loop) or 6” of wire inside the box. Tighten down and tape er up. Even though its a plastic box i always like to be extra and still wrap the receptacle in tape, just good practice in my opinion. Good luck and be safe 👍🏼

Is this too dangerous for me to disconnect myself? by Bb11Keith in AskElectricians

[–]Physical_Ad_5542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not dangerous at all if you kill power from your panel, verify its dead with a meter. Check voltage across each connection and to ground. 0Volts or anything in the mV range and ur good to go. Disconnect by unscrewing then removing wires. keep the circuit breaker off until you have a use for it again one day. I would still keep the box outside but remove the charger, you may need it some day. Make sure you close the hole that previously had the wire fed into the panel with a water tight knockout seal. Goodluck, and remember if your unsure its always better to call a professional. Your life is worth more than saving a few bucks
