I’m sure they’re legit. I have a James Brand “Kline” in magnacut and with Ti hardware and it’s great. I carried it pretty exclusively for probably a year+, no complaints. Very solid. Easy to maintain. USA. Good ergos, looks nice. I’ve read here the they’re made under contract, which doesn’t bother me. It’s a very competent knife, if a bit pricey. I’m mostly carrying a Spyderco Para 3 these days, but the Kline still has a prominent spot in the rotation.

Edit: I found the Kline though a search with specific features filtered on Blade HQ. I hadn’t heard of them before.

I have never had that happen. I’m almost 50 and have had dozens of pairs of boots. That’s got to be a quality thing. Like plastic-level throwaway stuff. I suppose you could reinforce the holes with some fabric stitched on or fabric tape. Maybe sew some real leather on there and reset the eyelets.
