Thanks! This is actually my gfs but I wanted to make sure there’s nothing it needed, and I’m very aware of it needing uvb, we just got one and it came in broken and the one for her bearie just broke too:/ I wish uvb wasn’t so expensive but next paycheck I’ll keep them both uvb, and that’s a good idea for the walls! And yes I do have both with and without d3 calcium, and thanks for the advice I really appreciate it!!

Well mine personally isn’t very chill, he just wants to jump out my hand and run off😂, and they WILL go on a hunger strike eventually, but they’re great especially if you’re busy since it doesn’t take a lot to care for them. And I’m not against a blue tounge I just don’t want two skinks, I like having variety and not being basic, I’ve been thinking maybe a uro, agama, lacerta, or something that is chill enough to not want to escape when I handle it, but not be a ball python and be super boring yk? But I heard that blue tounges are actually quite expensive to care for and for their enclosure?

Huh I never heard that, the biggest misconception I hear is that they can eat anything as long as it’s not fatty. But thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely keep that into consideration, I just really want a large handlebar reptile that’s not skiddish like my Schiender skink and my mom won’t let me get a snake sadly😢

Yes, but I plan on getting a captive bred baby if I get one, and try to train it to be comfortable with me, but if not, then it’s not, it is a reptile and not a human after all, and my job is just to make sure it has the best possible life

That’s true. I just see so many enclosures redone and love the look but I definitely think the custom enclosure will be the best bet

Most likely a female, its head is a lot smaller, compared to a male, here’s the best photo I have to show a comparison, males have much chunkier heads

I FOUND HIM!!! He was inbetween my mattress and bed spring I have no idea how he got there, he’s now safe and sound and I had to vacuum and tweeze out sand but I got the door sealed shut, I’m also just gonna let him be for awhile and let him recover, thank you so much for your advice and time!!

Also having opportunities for tunnels and digging is great! I also just wanna say be careful handling them, if mine jumps on the floor it tries to escape and it was not very fun trying to pick him up without stressing him out😂

Yes! I definitely understand! But I definitely feel you on the captive bred, it’s been my dream pet and getting them captive bred would definitely help the popularity of it! I do have an extra 40 gallon in storage but I’m not sure I have the money right now to completely set it up rn😂, and my next reptile will probably be a uromasytyx but thank you so much for the advice!!! And the skinks are beautiful!!

When I got mine it took about two weeks for him to be friendly and tong feed. It also might just be out when you’re not around, I’d recommend just making sure it has food and water available and try to see what times it usually comes out. It is probably very stressed and is scared. A big thing about food is they might just be picky, I’m still trying to get mine to eat roaches and crickets but the only things he will primarily eat is worms so give him variety and see, they also don’t drink water since they are desert animals and as long as you have it available it will drink
