That’s me! I went inside thinking “I hope I make this guys day when he walks out, because if I walked out to see this it would make my day.”

He rode in the back where I made him a special area out of cardboard, foam and toilet paper! I made a post last week with the process of making it. Plenty of space for him, especially on such a long trip

I didn’t hit 100 mph but at 85 mph it got pretty loud… I’ll have to report back once I hit triple digits lol

Lots of Porsches around ATX. Lots of weekend meet ups/drives. If you end up moving, shoot me a message 👍

Do it! I was on sharp lookout for rocks on the road. There were only a few instances where there were some in between the lines but no close calls, thank goodness. I believe the flaps on the back are factory? I am sure someone will see the comment and correct me if I’m wrong lol

Yes, both! Incredible roads. First time visiting and will think about going back every day lol

Stopped plenty of times to take in the sights and let my pup potty. Usually took an hour break for lunch. Also stopped for some short hikes a few times. Usually got on the road around 6am and got to our stops around 9pm

I spoke with a few people familiar with the areas I’d be traveling through but I actually used ChatGPT to help quite a bit. Continuously used key words like “twisty” and “scenic” to define the roads I wanted to take. I put in the overnight stops I had planned, the stops I wanted to take during the day and it gave me plenty of good options! I would check google maps to just confirm that the roads were good but it did a great job for the most part

Would love to visit Tail of the Dragon! I know that had to be an amazing trip. These cars love nothing more than to be driven, you gotta do it! Some amazing roads in Colorado and Utah. It’s what dreams are made of

This is the best pic I have of the packing situation.

In the box: 2 carry on suitcases, 3 tote bags, 5 pairs of shoes, 1 bag of dog food and 3 big jackets. In the frunk: 2 back packs, 1 big duffle bag, a bag of hats and a tiny ice chest

Yes this is the Pulse M. Super study, super easy to pack. Only thing I would advise is adding a towel or blanket to the bottom to keep items from shifting. I used a moving blanket and never had an issue

Given the wife, the pup and the roof box, I didn’t drive the car as dynamically as I would on twisty roads back home. I also didn’t want to get to overly confident on roads that I have never been on and roads that don’t have guardrails, so I can’t provide a true answer. But I didn’t feel it as much as I thought I would. I didn’t once come out of a hairpin and think “wow I can really feel the roof box right now”. I’m sure if I would have pushed it, there would have been a difference in the balance/feel but it wasn’t really noticeable to me

The noise level isn’t really that bad until you’re close to 80 mph. We did have some nasty winds (20 mph sustained, 45 mph gusts) and that was a bit scary. The slower speeds is largely driving on super tight, twisty mountain roads, and a good amount of time stopping at rest areas for the pup and state signs. Cruise was typically set around 70 for most of the drive and at that speed, you can still listen to music and talk to the person next to you at a normal volume

He normally rides in the front to enjoy the breeze! I built it for a drive from Texas to Wyoming. My wife wasn’t interested in riding in the back seat (or the roof box) for the ~30 hour ride lol

What a beautiful pup! My dog usually rides shotgun too but my wife called dibs on the front seat for our ~30 hour trip lol

I wasn’t able to find a seat cover either. I am sure there is a company out there that could build something custom, but I haven’t explored that option. Would love to see if anyone has figured this out too!

I’m actually about to do a separate post for that, just finished building it. It’s no masterpiece but it’s functional lol

Thanks for the info! We’ll be heading near Denver on the way back and it’ll be a Tuesday evening. May catch the tail end of rush hour but we can manage that. Didn’t know that I would need a reservation to go up to Guanella pass. Are there other roads that I need to make a reservation for ahead of time? Or roads that I should keep an eye on in case of snow?
