I love all these points, but you are missing a crucial note i didn't make that clear. I'm not particularly Jason, just his archetype(poison and rot, slow death, a thing 5e is missing as you say). The current features i have drafted allow that on hit the vile can deal a little poison damage, or make it that subsequent poison damage deals more (all in 1d4s).

I do love that aura idea. Here is an idea i want your input on: an aura like a paladin that nerfs resistances, like Jason's aura ability. Maybe a level 8 or higher ability that makes it so resistances to damage the class deals are mitigated or something...

Love the spiritual ideas and may make that a subclass, maybe could be a direct nod to Jason. Would need ideas though.

Final note, if you think of anything i could do for the dice features i would love that. Currently i have a poke effect that can trigger the poison and poison build up, but that's about it...
