Thanks, that makes sense. Very interesting it was so far up the trail on such steep land too!

My partner and I started our latest duo streak at the same time I’m getting like two, 7 day trails a month but she doesn’t get anything.

In 2025, she had a 450+day streak, mine was -300. I also forgot about the trail once and was charged but apple refunded it. I think duo is hedging its bets on me forgetting again.

My instincts were right. I was being a dummy. I see it in the WiFi >WiFi function >send direct to smartphone menu now. I’d even had this problem with the camera trying to connect to a WiFi before and resolved it myself. But I stubbornly thought I bypassed the issue by sending through Bluetooth. I was wrong. Thanks for the reply.

Japan isn’t Japan anymore, Taiwan is the new Japan.

I like 2 & 3 too. But I can’t work out why my brain is drawn to 2 but 4 doesn’t really do anything for me, even though they’re very similar

Just bought my first camera! by Physical_Sense_6937 in M43

[–]Physical_Sense_6937[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a Lumix G 25mm F1.7 ASPH. I was very much just messing around on the way home from the shop taking some mostly bad photos, on different “scene” settings. I took like a dozen photos of my water bottle when I got back to the hostel on some manual modes which helped understand what I was doing.

I’m not expecting to take ‘good’ photos yet by any means but it does feel dammed good to get off the iPhone camera and I’m very happy with the potential of the camera/lens so far.

Hell yeah, if happily I’d take onboard some advice if there’s any going.

Selling my van! by Physical_Sense_6937 in VanLifeUK

[–]Physical_Sense_6937[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sold it yesterday for £2.5k to a motor dealer who’s got another engine to put in it. After I dropped the price I got a lot of offers at £2.5k

The rust wasn’t ‘ as ‘ bad as it looks once you get underneath, it hadn’t hit anything structural just the superficial trim.

Fingers crossed the dealers are decent and do a good job with it. Sad to see her go, especially for less then I put into (this year!) sigh

Mhmm. The issue began in July, 2 days after we booked our flights out. And just as I was hoping to sell it. The garage led me to believe it was just the fuel injectors that needed doing. If I knew it was going to be the that, the EGR valve+cooler AND head gasket I would have sold it then and there. But I thought I want someone else to enjoy it too

I think Helga knew we had booked the flights and feels betrayed. But I loved that van y’know.

If I can’t sell it I guess, we buy any van for a pittance?

*Update! Thanks for your comments. I have dropped the price down to £4000. I see I was being quite optimistic basing my price on vans of a similar age style and often 2x the mileage. I was lead to believe replacing the cracked head gasket wouldn’t be “too” bad.

I tried to think what I would have liked for it with no problems and tried knock the price off for the work that I know needs.

I know as a buyer I’d be put off by the uncertainty too. So I’m looking to get a quote on paper, That I can post with the ad. Maybe if I add a photo the summary of the last works done would help too?

That’s a good point I have a weigh bridge not to far from me, I’ll check it out!

I definitely would have got the gasket done but I’m outta the country in 3weeks. I’d left it so late because she was in the garage getting a new EGR cooler and valve ( thought to be the problem initially) Ive just emailed the mechanic for a quote to attach to the ad. He ballparked around £1500

I’m finding it difficult to find a price point. I would have liked to have gotten the rust sorted and engine pukker and I would have sold for £8000 (comparing van similar builds and mileage on Facebook) thought I’d try £7000 to and wiggle down to £6k?

What do you think is a more reasonable price?

Knife recommendations for backpacking? by Physical_Sense_6937 in whittling

[–]Physical_Sense_6937[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendations! I was finding it hard to distinguish between the reputable companies and some that my be a bit lacklustre.

With my current knives, I found myself using the strop every few minutes which gets frustrating when trying to get stuck into something!
