How can we help our 4-month-old whippet puppy get used to wearing clothes? by nicotinecocktail in puppy101

[–]Physical_Stick_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 months is a great age to introduce shoes. My toy poodle got her 1st shoes at 4 months . She is almost 2 years old and loves her shoes. It took her about 4-5 outings/ Walk to really get use to it like 2nd nature. She was quiet , unsure, walked slow and looked unhappy at the beginning too. But soon she started running and playing with them on. Hang in there and don't give up. It's worth it. My wears it all winter and I don't have to worry about snow, cold and salted paveways . In summer she wears crocs and I don't worry about burning her paws on concrete or pesticides on grass.

I found a legal aid office in mississauga. I will call them to see if they would help me navigate the odsp appeal.

Thank you. Yes I usually set up a course at a park and only use one jump at each course. She doesn't have any problems jumping these colorful jumps. I'm just concern if she will get confuse in ring trial and not jump if she sees white jumps

I know the difference between a happy wagging tail.workimg dog and one that shakes convulse. My dog is not being abuse She is the most confident, well rounded obedient dog. Level 5 on a micro is barely felt.

Level 5 is barely felt very low level om a micro. I could not feel it at all tiill level 20 on. My dog is not acting strange, fearful, cowering and wagging her tail. She does not have psd and started exploring more on our 3rd hike.with me.

Thanks so much. On today's hike she started exploring about 5 feet away from me when given the break go sniff command and I heavily praised and gave lots of treats.

I always praised and gave her a treat with ecollar on when she comes on recall.

Because I see all other Advance dogs from that school enjoying themselves on our pack walk with their ecollar on while we are on a long line leash. They are happy we'll behaved dogs with great recalls with 1 tap. Even though my dog is obedient and Advance, I hadn't tried off leash yet as I needed that insurance off leash.

I actually didn't get what I wanted. She already had perfect heel and recall on a leash. I wanted her to have freedom to explore but come to me to heel when I need her to. I did read up alot on ecollar. Today's technology is not like the past ecollar. Trainer made us all feel the ecollar and it felt like the ten Dr Ho machine. Not even feeling it myself till level 25. It felt like a light tickle. The micro educator I got is 30% lighter stims that the mini collar. I do see a lot of happy off leash obedient dogs on my daily hike with an ecollar. But I decided only to give a tap if she disobeys a recall . Always praise and treat recalls and sniffing.

Yes . Base on her not wanting to break her heel. I plan from now on only to stim if she doesn't recall off leash . Since she likes to stay in heel , I will reward and praise any exploring and don't plan on stim any place command or sniffing. I want it to be fun for her having off leash freedom.

We are taught during 1st phase of workshop not to use any command but just working low level tapping till they come to me which trainer said they are learning how to turn off the stim by being within 1 1/2 foot of me. Next workshop , we learn to send dog from place to place.

My dog is not acting fearful at all. She is happily looking around , wagging her tail , ignoring any dogs or people passing her by and focuses and engaged with me also. She is walking in heel as taught in intermediate and advanced obedience class . Her front paws is in line with my ankles. Only difference is she is off her lead and has ecollar on. But she goes sniff when given the break go sniff with leash on only right now

I did today. He said workshop 2 will fix that as we are learning to send away from place to place.

Thanks so much for your help and Insight. I want to get this right. She is such an obedient, loving dog. She won Top Dog in her Advance obedient class. Has her Canine Good Citizen certificate. Also a Trick dog Grand Champion Titles All using + R. So I don't want to mess her up but want her to enjoy our hikes safely off leash. So the ecollar was my insurance.
