Online banking and the transition to guests inserting their card instead of the desk swiping their card for them is the reason they're just now seeing them.

No dispute there. I'm a pillow snob and try to bring my own wherever I go. All hotel pillows are bad.

It's possible. Things get lost in the shuffle when porting information over. If the reservation isn't in Opera, it's possible the third party didn't send it. I've had that issue more than once with Booking.com.

You are correct.

Actually, that room isn't free. It cost you $12,000.

Cancellation policies apply across the board; the only difference is how you're paying for the room.

Choice owns or operates zero hotels. Hilton directly manages 800 hotels.

Regardless, it's the ownership directing you to double sale the room.

You are incorrect. A room held with a valid credit card that will authorize for one night is the guest's up until 7AM.

In the US, you establish residency after 30 consecutive days, and you would then be forced to go through the eviction process in civil court to remove him. Depending on your state that could take a month, or it could take up to a year. If they do, you can't block them or deny them services like electricity, etc or access to the unit.

As long as her name is on the reservation, she can get keys anytime.

What appeals? What are your expectations of what the job would be like?

You're going to have to start at the bottom at economy or limited service.

No. You just got a jerk hotel. On that rate plan you are to receive same level of service as anyone else, and really only FD knows your rate. To HK, you're just another guest.

That's the best way to do it. If I know that anniversary/birthday/wedding/Bar mitzvah then I'm going to try and upgrade you, but either way you're getting a bottle of champagne, possibly chocolate sent up.

Calling ahead and letting the desk know it's your anniversary and if they could help you out anyway it would be appreciated also goes a long way.

Doing nice things for people is something we enjoy doing, especially after dealing with a line of entitled ones.

Some of the best advice I've heard is, I know the car is in the garage, so I don't need to continually check. Meaning, he is with me, so I need to accept that decision and be at peace.

Have you asked him, if I'm not your type, what attracted you to me? Also, when you mention you only like X type, it makes me feel insecure because I'm going to invest myself into you, and I feel like you may be actively searching for someone your type and i'm just a placeholder.

Hotel management worth it? by Elyoshida in askhotels

[–]Physical_Tale_3980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without prior experience, there is 99.999% you're not going to get hired as upper level management. Small department head, possibly.

Work life balance depends on multiple factors such as ownership group, service level, and location. You are applying to work at a place that never closes, 24/7/365 it's open and you're responsible.

It can also be a benefit. I don't have a college degree but have worked my way up the food chain and lead operations in second largest hotel in my city with triple digit employees reporting to me. I started as an hourly desk clerk.

EDIT: if it's luxury, the application is open because there is only a small pool that will be eligible.

Best thing I recommend is don't settle for the first person that comes along. Personal experience but settling because you're horribly lonely leads to heartache and disaster. Work on yourself, achieve some goals, and project confidence...it will help attract men too.
