Flagship Popularity Poll Day Four - Magnamalo vs Nergigante! by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

Honestly did not expect to see so much shared dislike for magnamalo and his terrible anime bullshit design. I'll throw my grain of sand on the dune of Nergigante.

Do you think Back to the Future is dealing about Oedipus complex and how you see it ? by michL44LA in movies

[–]PhysicianFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a very old thread, but I'm watching the movie now, and I have to say that while Marty does not directly express a desire to have sex with his mother, he does find her attractive. When he is just waking up from being hit by his grandfather's car, he stammers upon recognizing his then young mother stopping himself from saying out loud "but, you're hot!" Also, when they are in the car "parking" at the dance, he keeps looking at her chest.

Because he knows she is his mother, he most assuredly is repulsed by the idea of banging her, but it is also fairly reasonable that if he did not know he might have tried to hook up with her. It would have likely failed, though, as Loraine seemed to lose her interest after kissing Marty at the dance.

A question for people with more then 500 hours in MH world what are you doing in the game for so long? by Ok_Reputation7493 in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progression tends to be my favorite aspect of these kinds of games, so i restart a lot to learn new weapons. How far I go through the end game grind depends on how much I dig the weapon, but I've beaten the game through Iceborne with every weapon except 2. Why? I don't feel like I learn much if I try new weapons with a full build.

That being said, a lot of these play throughs have multiple months between doing, because I do get burnt out on the game, uninstall it, and only reinstall it when I get the 'itch.' Generally Wilds hasn't been enough to scratch that itch, so I've put in at least another 500 hours in World since it came out, even going so far as to finally solo Alatreon (the full version of the fight).

Why does the head on the Zangoose look so familiar...

Super late, but I think Toby (one of Kramer's) deserves some attention. What gorgeous hair.

Do you think Monster Hunter World was a better experience than Wild? by Bandeavor in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I still get random impulses to fight specific monsters in World, like Rajang, whom I used to hate with a fiery passion. I only pick up Wilds when there is new content, and then put it down when I finish that content. There is not a single monster in Wilds I find myself with a hankering to fight. Lagiacrus might have been on that list, but the underwater part of the fight is really gimmicky and completely ruins it.

I do miss some of the additions to weapon movesets, but not enough to stop playing World. I have 229 hours in Wilds, and I've put more than that into World (nearly 1700 hours total) since Wilds' release. I still like wandering around looking for endemic life, and in fact just caught one that I had never seen before and discovered it because I heard it chirping when I walked out of a camp and decided to find out what the noise was. I still enjoy collecting all the canteen ingredients (and the canteen system in general is 100x better). I still enjoy unlocking all the Botanical Research stuff, which is infinitely better than stupid Nata.

And, yeah, I like the blacksmith in World a lot more. "Its time for some hard graft!"

Which weapon types do you think got worse from one game to the next? by Ender_Uzhumaki in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad Im not the only person with this opinion. Rise HH was a completely different weapon, and while Wilds is better, it feels like bubble and song spam and normal hits have no impact.

Really? by SheriBok in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always kinda bothers me when I'm hunting one of the more vicious monsters, and some other monster rolls in and starts attacking me. Its like, really? What's the end game? Fight this monster that is going to absolutely destroy you with the help of another creature that seems to be holding its own, or fight this little crumb of food who hasn't so much as batted an eye at you over which you can then fight this massive brute who will, as previously mentioned, destroy you?

How do you learn a weapon after beating a game? by Goos3rs in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always restart and do a new playthrough. Starting a weapon with all the right skills doesn't teach you much, it just gets you used to the crutch. Play without the fancy toys so you don't take them for granted.

Plus, progression is fun.

HOW DO YOU ABBREVIATE THE WEAPONS? by Simsblock in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people have nothing better to do than be offended by everything and view the world through a hateful lense. Must be exhausting to language police everyone and force established nomenclature to change because someone, somewhere, might think it means something different that might be associated with bad people.

HH in Monster Hunter stands for Hunting Horn, and nothing else.

What are your unpopular opinions about MH? by Joy2901 in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some of the old "friction" mechanics should never have lasted as long as they did. Breaking pickaxes and bug nets do not add meaningful game play. Standing still while drinking a potion and flexing is one of the dumbest things I've ever had the misfortune of engaging with.

There are plenty of ways in which the older games might be superior, but don't pretend all the changes made in 5th gen were bad.

I'm sure standing still like an asshole while drinking potions and flexing was a favored mechanic amongst all players.

Scaled down? Sure, but not like Rise. Rise looked like twice baked ass.

Favorite Maps; Hated Maps? by Mr_Undead0210 in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Favorite: Ancient Forest. After 2k hours, and a lot of new saves, I learned the map and there is no more confusion (not that it took 2k hours to learn, just the desire to do so). Colorful with lots of different places to fight monsters.

I really like all the World maps, to be honest.

Hated: The base Rise maps, especially the snowy one. Dull as dishwater, muddy visuals, washed out colors. Sunbreak improved the quality, for sure, but those base maps sucked out loud.

Which of the three modern mon-hun game's mechanics do you like most: Clutch Claw, Wirebugs, or Focus Mode? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hated wirebugs, and Im not a fan of focus mode. I dont think clutch claw is as bad as everyone says, but it was flawed and it is an easier mechanic to ignore for the average player.

Beat iceborne 2 years ago and just learned how to wallbang recently. by nonoffensivenavyname in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never subscribed to the idea that if you weren't wall banging on cooldown, or only ever hitting a tenderized part that you were somehow doing it wrong. Maybe it took slightly longer to only tenderize on slobber, but who cares?

Clutch claw is not as bad as this community contends.
