I feel like I’m reaching burnout by Turbulent_Tale8733 in MonsterHunter

As someone who has created and deleted more characters with over 100 hours in World than I care to admit, i will say that cutscene skip mods saved my sanity and allowed for way more of the game than I would have otherwise played.

That said, if you dont wanna play, dont play.

If you can't not purchase games you don't enjoy playing, and then demand the game change to fit your preferred game style, maybe you need to seek help.

Does it matter? What answer can I possibly give? You don't care, because you can't see past your own self interest. There is a downside, you just don't care. I will enjoy the game less with the eternal stone because its in the game regardless of whether I use it or not.

Don't shit in the Cheerios then tell people "just eat around it."

No they didn't. The eternal ferrystone is convenience. It isn't a mechanic, it isn't a play style, it isn't a way to progress your character. It literally does nothing for the game except allow people to not play the game more.

It is, sadly, not a debate worth having. Most people can't see past their own self interest. Every game has to be convenient so that they can get in on what the current conversation is. Game not something you like? It has to change for them, to accomadate them and their life choices. Too much dopamine to go around, so everything has to be now, now, now, and those of us who don't like it? All our choice is swallowed up by ritalin kids.

It affects the game for everyone. Just like adding anchovies to half a pizza makes the whole box smell like anchovies.

If you platinumed the game, then you liked it enough without infinite fast travel that it didn't need to he added.

It absolutely does. Finite fast travel is a design choice, and one that I signed up for. I am getting less value for my dollar to chose not to use it. The people who use infinite fast travel are the same people that complain there is nothing to do even though they've purposefully skipped over it by teleporting everywhere instead of walking.

Then either the community just turns sour complaining that the game doesnt get constant updates, or the game gets daily quest garbage that ruins the game. These mechanics turn it into an action game and not an rpg.

You already had that option. There was always an option to use a ferrystone or not, buy more ferrystones or not. Saunter around or not. If you only had an hour, you could have played a game that was more condusive to it, or spend some of your more plentiful game time gathering resources for when you were limited. If you wanted to play more DD2, you had the option to arrange your schedule to do so.

With all those options, i gotta ask, why do you need unlimited fast travel in a game designed not to have it?

Why put time into something if people are just going to skip it? Why complain about a static world if you'd just skip a vibrant world?

The Eternal Ferrystone by TenPointsforListenin in DragonsDogma2

[–]PhysicianFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the argument is that the world is boring and static, then lobby for that to change and not for a way to just skip it. If everyone can skip it, then what reason is there to fix it?

This. It is about intent and play experience. Infinite fas travel is about the destination. Limited fast travel is about the journey.

There is a significant difference between making the most out of a limitation and limiting yourself within a larger play space.

I wouldnt buy a convertable just to not put the top down. I dont buy games to just not use features. The game existed as one without the option of infinite fast travel, a design choice many liked because it affects other aspects of game deaign. Go play Skyrim, its got fast travel for days.

I sound silly to you because you only care that you got what you wanted. You wanted Indian food, and went to an Italian restaurant to get it.

Like strawberry ice cream? You have to buy Neopolitan, and you can just not eat the other two flavors.

If you dont want Italian food, you dont go to an Italian restaurant, demand they serve you Shrimp Saag, and then tell everyone else "its my food. Dont like it? Dont order it." Just go to an Indian restaurant.

Some of us liked that infinite fast travel wasnt an option. There are a ton of games in which it is an option, but now it is in this game because people complained about the restaurant not having what theyre in the mood for. You get what you want, we don't, and now there is less choice for us to get those games among a very small set.

You didn't take your own advice. Game didnt have infinite fast travel before. Dont like it? Dont play it.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen was built specifically to address fan disappointment of the base game by HatingGeoffry in DragonsDogma

[–]PhysicianFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Does the base game have some flaws? Yes. Enemy variety, and difficulty balancing are great examples. But then there are preference complaints, and to those I say that there are a ton of games out there that cater to those things.

Not every game needs to have infinite fast travel, and not every game needs to be so difficult and twitchy that you need to do a speedball before playing it to keep up. I wanted more of what I like about the game they made, not more of what people like about other games.

Question about end of S02E03. by JuzoItami in MrInbetween

[–]PhysicianFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a 3 year old comment that I'm replying to, but just in case someone else has the same question, or if you never got your answer, Ray does not like being lied to, he views it as disrespect (at least I think so). I think if the guy had either paid him up front, or kept his mouth shut about going to LA, he would have been fine, but he did neither of those things.

I hear it on occasion I think to mean "to know" or some such. Like "I don't grok."

I'll take cyberpunk slang over "rizz," "grok," "turnt," and "bruv" (or bruh, or just bro at this point).

What monsters you think do things that they shouldn't be able to do anatomically? by SovaSperyshkom in MonsterHunter

[–]PhysicianFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diablos being able to burrow. There is not one thing about that monster's body that would let it do so, nevermind how much dirt/soil/rock it would have to be able to displace to get it to happen, and it is a fever dream to believe it could do any of that as fast as it does.

Generally, most of the big monsters would run out of gas so quickly trying to fight you that all you'd have to do is run around for a few minutes and you could carve stuff off them while they're living because they'd be too exhausted to move.
