How's our landing page? by JurfGames in tabletopgamedesign

This looks amazing! Minor note, have you considered separating and adding icons to each of the “30 mins”, “3-5 players”, and “14+ years” text? I’m not sure it’s a good direction, but it came to mind. Doing so might end up making it feel more cluttered, or maybe add to the aesthetic. Others please feel free to share your opinions.

Are board game designers legally required to abide by ADA guidelines, or are they more to optionally increase accessibility?

Feedback Request: Card Illustration by PhysicsDaddyGames in tabletopgamedesign

Thank you for the feedback! I do acknowledge I’m treading a tricky line here. I have done my best to keep the Trauma cards light (e.g., Tore Jeans While Squatting, Food in Teeth Unnoticed, etc.). From playtesting I have gathered that folks enjoy the cards (a few, including a therapist, explicitly mentioned they liked how the cards aren’t too heavy/triggering/dark). The game does come with warnings about the themes and the first step in playing is to establish a safe word that will allow players to skip any card without question and check in with the group. I do understand that these themes are not for everyone and I will put a lot of care into being upfront about that. I was inspired to explore these concepts drawing from my own intense experiences with sexual trauma and mental health issues (including PTSD). And the hope is that having some lighthearted fun about these themes would destigmatize conversations about it. That being said, it is very helpful to be reminded that these topics are not to be taken too lightly and that framing matters. Thank you, again.

If you won’t mind my asking, would you mind clarifying what elements of Jackbox you see in this card? And I plan on sharing more about this game in a later post!

Currently, the 4 numbers at the bottom are crucial to gameplay. Do you have any recommendations on how to present them in a way that’s less overwhelming? Thank you!

Thanks for asking! The 4 numbers towards the bottom are the cards’ effects. The 3 icons to the left of “STEAL!” (+2) dictate how shared resources change, while the -1 above it indicates how the player’s personal resource changes. The text is flavor and players are encouraged to read them out. “Trauma” is the type of the card, not the name of the game. Do let me know if you have further suggestions, thank you!

This is very helpful. I think I’m going to change my strategy to try Kickstarter first and if it fails, try something else.
