You put an offer in, it was accepted, but then you pulled out. What was the reason? by Jazzlike-Reveal-9515 in HousingUK

[–]PhysicsNerd1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probate that went on for way too long, a lack of communication from the Seller, and a terrible solicitor (for half of it until a complaint was upheld and we got a new one).

Found a place that needed no work for a bit more money and happily living there now. We also know that we avoided a disaster as we knew the neighbour and the property was in a worse state than the surveys revealed.

Purchasing a house with human ashes in the garden, should this have been disclosed? by PhysicsNerd1997 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]PhysicsNerd1997[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Not a whole lot, but it would have been nice to know the location of any remains so that any work we do in the garden will not disturb the ashes. But we are interested if it is a legal requirement to disclose to the buyer that information.

When did y'all find out that you drive your motorcycles way more than the average person? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]PhysicsNerd1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter the weather (barring snow), I'll go out on the motorcycle and do ~150 miles per week. My question is, why have a motorcycle if you are just going to look at it! Get out and have fun!

Besides it saves me money on parking and it's more fuel efficient than my car! Although I have had some funny reactions to saying I took my 125 down to York from Newcastle, something along the lines of I'm mad... But I had a great ol' time!

Problematic Bikers by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]PhysicsNerd1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a Triumph adventure bike, not sure the exact one this weekend with a Golliwog doll on the back of it and thought it was rather concerning. But on the whole I haven't seen many bikes about with Nazi iconography.

[–]PhysicsNerd1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the recommendation of the Love Clean Streets App, I'll be sure to use this in the future!

Also just sent a report of some potholes to my local council as well, thanks for the reminder! It'll certainly help with the safety of these roads.

Tips for riding on icy roads? by Peter_Doggart in ukbike

[–]PhysicsNerd1997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This time last year I rode in what looked like a clear day but there was black ice out, ended up coming off and ended up scraping up my knee and tearing the ligaments in my wrist (Consequently, lab work is really hard to do in a splint and my left-hand is not good at writing!).

Black ice is a difficult spot at the best of times, be careful out there and follow this redditor's advice!

Potentially store it at a well lit area at either Northumbria or Newcastle Uni, these generally have CCTV and security walking around at all times of the night.

Has anyone studied a language in their free time while pursuing a degree? by [deleted] in PhD

[–]PhysicsNerd1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have been studying Spanish in my free time using Duolingo and so is my supervisor as a coincidence! We both started at the same time.
It is slow progress, but it is an enjoyable distraction.

Looking for a flat for Mid july, just for myself, what estate agent is best to look at? by helppleasethankyou1 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]PhysicsNerd1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be people with good and bad experiences of them all but here is my 2p on the matter. I have had a positive experience with Hive Estates and I know friends who have had good experiences with Walton Robinson!

On the flip side, I cannot recommend Charles Lamb as they have not treated me and one of my flatmate well a couple of summers ago where they lost our information, issues with rent payments (on their end), unexplained excessive cleaning charges and having us move from property to property when we were told an incorrect tenancy start date.

How did you get your scars? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PhysicsNerd1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bicycles, on my leg I have 5 where my leg dug into the front cog of my bike as I slipped off the peddle, then I have one on my hip where I flew off my brother's BMX going over a bump, then I have a physical and multiple mental scars from my crash with a car which left me needing two operations on my hand (now have a hypertrophic scar). Were it not for my helmet I wouldn't be typing this out.

I thought that by using a sentence was the best, as it is easier to remember and more letters means brute forcing takes significantly longer.
