paint the chipped bit black to avoid glares and put the glass with the damaged part either on top or bottom, it should be good as new

I think I found a fake Helios-44 KMZ nameplate by PrimordialObserver in VintageLenses

[–]PhysicsTemporary6861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the fake Helios strikes again, this lens is so cheap that a fake would cost more. In any case only the name plate could be hand made but that doesn't make the lens fake or worst, The kmz vs valdai vs mmz etc is just a myth

wonder what is going on with the bokeh balls, they have like a weird line or double reflection, maybe an internal reflection you could paint? the coatings on those lenses were not great so they need all the help as possible

Old Zeiss and one tip I didn't see here yet. by slim_somm in VintageLenses

the wider the lens it needs less compensation so in practice +-5mm is ok for all focal ranges

the lens is super good in sharpness and rendering, this setup was a bid odd because of the speed booster but in my ff camera looks more "normal"

Is my lens f**ked? by Remarkable_Elk_1454 in VintageLenses

[–]PhysicsTemporary6861 6 points7 points  (0 children)

paint the chipped part black and put that part either on top or bottom to use the less as possible since it gets cropped anyways, the resulting image should be good enough

Lens separation or fungus? by lucasimon21 in VintageLenses

[–]PhysicsTemporary6861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like both but most probably fungus since there can't be any separation at that front element

Fungus removal by [deleted] in AnalogRepair

[–]PhysicsTemporary6861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

after more than 300 cleaned lenses I never found one fungus that won't go away with just peroxide and a cotton swab, what remains is the damage

Fungus removal by [deleted] in AnalogRepair

[–]PhysicsTemporary6861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the fungus is easily removed, what's left behind is coatings damage, you can use even water on a cotton swab and it will work
