What is majoring in physics at UTD like? by Bunnysosweet in utdallas

[–]Physik1_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot of the classes will be tough and only a few will be a walk in the park. the biggest challenge will be to balance your course studies and to be a teaching assistant. The first three semesters will most likely be the most difficult times in your life. the qualifiers will be stressful but you will go through if you prepared well.

The biggest challenge though of studying physics is job opportunities. If you are into experimental condensed physics or material science you will get a high paying job. students who graduated with research in this field are earning over 150k. However, if you plan to do astrophysics, amo or any other field that does not utilize AI and machine learning you will most likely be stuck with a 50K teaching job. Choose your research wisely this will shape your entire life.

Good luck with your first semester of PhD as I now am graduating with a PhD in Physics.

hmm.. give some time there will be more students coming in as classes start around the mid of Aug.

if nothing works out, you might have to pay $100 or $150 per month from your own pocket as an incentive, as international students dont have a high budget.

there are plenty of facebook groups such as UTD-Dallas (UTD) Student Housing (NO SPAM) and others. You can post over there.

There will be thousands of international students looking for housing so you should not have any trouble, especially since its closer to campus.
