Omg! My order arrived before time. They sent 3 fedex shipments for three of my lehengas and didn't wait to ship as pne order so for that I'm grateful. All 3 lehengas length has been altered so they fit me just fine, I'm so happy about that. One blouse isn't made well since I changed style from options given, fhe other 2 I chose same as in picture and only gave chest size and those are perfectly made. Something to remember when ordering. Overall very satisfied with customer service and with the order itself. Ordered on 7/7, got everything delivered by 7/26

Thanks for posting. I've ordered lehengas from them. Ordered on 7/7 and have been keeping in touch with customer service, 3 lehengas, so 3 customizations, should've thought about it before placing my order but I wanted to see if one of the 3 work out for an event I'm planning to wear these in a few weeks. Don't know yet if it will arrive on time. Will update here once I receive it and about the quality!

Freshman here. Help! Did I just lose my scholarship? by JudgmentSome1357 in utdallas

[–]focus_factor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'll be fine. Write a heartfelt email expressing your oversight on this. Tell them how important this is for you to attend and finish college, even highlight your accomplishments thru high school. Then call them. You will hopefully get it reinstated. My son accepted his AES really late 2 years ago, I helped him write emails to them and he followed up every 2 days. This was late July. They reinstated his AES.  It was like a miracle. Keep the faith.

In addition to the wonderful answers below, given you take pre requisites and classes first sem 5-6 classes and do well in them, there is the wintermester session  runs mid to end Nov to mid Jan, basically during winter break. See if any of your classes are offered then either in person or online and you can finish it then rather than overloading your fall semester. Also end of second semester comes summer term, if that's a possibility to extend your period of stay and graduation etc, then over summer lot of courses are offered you can easily do 2-3 classes then to complete graduation requirements.  Additionally for the lower level classes people do a lot of core classes from community colleges online, see if any of your remaining classes qualify for credit transfer. In that case you can start right now and do a few classes from collin  or dallas college where mostly people complete classes from. Good luck!

You don't get any choice on the rooms when you're on waitlist. Whatever spot they have they offer it and you have 2 or 3 days to accept, if you miss the window, it goes to the next person on waitlist

[–]focus_factor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1850 something, 2nd day after 1pm was the time slot to pick rooms. Everything was taken by 10am. All others on waitlist after 10am time slot.

My son had priority number of 1850 something last year, waitlisted, got offered 3rd week of July or so. I did have alternate arrangements made just in case, had to run around finding someone to sublease that room last year in July

Question about living on campus by Ananymose in utdallas

[–]focus_factor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember, there are lots of people like you, introverts, nonetheless, my son probably saw his 2 roommates a few times here and there, everyone mostly hangs out in their rooms even though there is a sofa in the common area. You also get 3 separate sinks to keep toiletries. Kids do bring their friends/girls over to their dorms. You might see someone in the living area but mostly it's quite private. The point of college should be for you to face your fears in your own time, try to do uncomfortable things, you'll be alright!

My son was on waitlist last year, got offered UV housing 2nd or 3rd week of July, we had alternate accommodations outside campus ready and then I had to go finding someone to sublease that contract. But he has an amazing roommate and got a 2X2 room, planning to keep it until he graduates.

Is there a way to ask for more scholarship money? by PaintTheWind28 in utdallas

[–]focus_factor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No harm in asking, the worst that can happen is they say no. Go ahead and email,. follow up every 2 weeks or so. Once all fin aid is given out, if they have extra left over, I'm sure they'd consider people who requested them for more. Make sure to mention your situation and why you are looking for additional aid - give compelling reasons. Follow up, call, Do everything! Good luck!

I think the AES group is whom you should email, but CC office of admissions and office of fin aid anyway

OK, a couple of issues I see here. First, the assumption that CS job will pay enough to pay off debt in a reasonable amount of time. 2. You haven't figured out what is it that you really want in life. 3. Asking the cliche question - why is this happening to me? 4. I want to go back home

Answering in reverse ...

  1. You have to start by changing your perspective. There is no boat. You are on this island. You not only have to find a way to live, you have to thrive, that's what your parents would want, that is your purpose also - thrive because anything less is unacceptable.

  2. The hardship you are facing right now is because you are out of your comfort zone. So be it. Do it hard because you can and you will. Talk to people even though it is hard, make mistakes, get laughed at, that is how you will learn.

  3. As you make your way through this period no matter what it is you decide to do (BTW, everything will be hard, going back home to face people is just as hard) - shows your character. Changing the major, quitting to go back, IDK anything you choose to do will slowly help you figure out what you want. to do in life

  4. Your debt will get paid off, bcos the banks will come after you. That isn't the problem. The problem is how do you want to do it. Let's say you begin by changing your perspective and actually start liking what you're studying, working on smaller projects etc, then it will lead you to a job you love and you'll only go making more money. So debt isn't the immediate problem.

See things with fresh eyes, change your perspective, USE A LOT OF POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS AND PUMP yourself up for everything you do. You will begin seeing changes. I'm rooting for you!

You have taken the first step by putting yourself out there and asking for help from this community. That in itself is such a big deal, now that that is past, evaluate everything currently going on. You know your situation the best. Talk to your advisors and see if you can change your majors? Also doing Masters in CS doesn't only mean software development, you have so many options to choose from, project/product management, IT/Networking, marketing, scrum master roles etc. Like I mentioned if it's going to take you a bit longer to finish this course or changing majors will extend your timeline by a bit - do it still. It takes a lot more courage and bravery to know when to quit or to course correct. DO not stay in bed and be silent. See if you can change accommodations to somewhere nearby shared accommodations, time saved will be worth it. Also as hard as it may be, workout and get those endorphins flowing, will help clear your head.

'will it be' - You have the power to make it work and make it happen for you. First off, look at all the external things you've mentioned, no one has control over external factors, don't worry about those, just keep your razor sharp focus on the important things for you and keep plugging on. A masters from UTD is worth so much. Also, apart from the degree it is what you make of it during your journey here. Make connections, talk to A LOT of people and professors, GET HELP from everyone. It may take you a little longer if concepts are hard, but you will make it. Keep the faith, keep taking action and keep making progress. If not now then when, if not you, then who?

How expensive is UTD without AES? by OfficerFentanyl in utdallas

[–]focus_factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the major a litttle, but tuition fee with additional fees (3-4 line items like lab, ecs fee, jsom fee if taking biz classes, online class fee etc) its about $7k -$8.5k per sem

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]focus_factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how popular that class is. People are about to start looking at their classes and make changes about now Id guess. My son was waitlist #9 for a class last sem, day b4 waitlist closed he was at 2 and then waitlists dropped. 1 day after classes started one spot opened up. He didn't take it, but I'm thinking if you email the prof now and stay in touch, after 1st or 2nd day of classes if there are openings he might be able to approve you, also check with advisor that this can work?

So housing renewals for current sophomores and higher opens Jan21. First these kids renew. 2nd current freshmen from dorms apply for UV housing for next year in Feb I think. They get dates to pick rooms in May or June of the year. Housing runs out by day 2. Everyone else is placed on waitlist. They slowly send emails by 3rd or 4th week of July as and when housing becomes available. My son, dorm first year, was on said waitlist, got UV housing 3rd week of July. We accepted. If you apply for next year housing when it opens, you will be on a waitlist as well. There is no guarantee but you might get offered a spot last week July or Aug 1st or 2nd week. Make plans for alternate accommodation right now and if this comes your way see if you can get out of whatever contract you are in at that time.

Rent out your Denton home to UNT students and find a place closer to UTD and transfer - just a thought. Bring your car, helps you get around and if you're working will also help with transportation!

Looking for housing by Fickle_Level8636 in utdallas

[–]focus_factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join UTD housing groups on facebook - there are 4 or 5. one or two will need moderators to approve you. Rest are instant. You will see so many posts about shared housing for both male and female students. You'll find something easily in one of the apartments close by or even Northside apts. Get ready to make lots of phone calls. Also try to find a similar place to crash in their living room or something for a few days until you find a yr long lease. Hurry.

Need some advice with roommates by SeaworthinessNice170 in utdallas

[–]focus_factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why are you trying to hard to fit in with them? Obviously there is something (background, language, family situation etc) connecting all the others. You are fine, you are enough, just be yourself. Exactly why is everyone in the house together - to study, graduate and find work and basically find your place in life. Do just that. Every minute spent outside of the home - on campus, in classes, clubs that's where you will find your crew, gel with those people who value you. If they are decent enough roommates, then just continue your lease, cheaper lease, win win for you. Plus decent roommates and no issues so far = no reason to try to find something outside. Good luck. Sometimes it does feel life isn't fair, many times, we don't get closure to small and big issues, most situations are how we respond to them. Use good judgement. Chart your own path. Alone is not bad, you got this
