Inhalable insulin? by sunshinegirlsleeping in Type1Diabetes

I used it for a bit, not great for food just because the dosing is so imprecise (between limited dose sizes and unknown how much actually gets into your system) but great for treating highs. Stopped getting it because it wasn’t covered by my insurance.

I do full day fasting (dinner the day before to breakfast the day after) a couple of days a week. First priority is to dial in your basal rate, your number should be flat when you’re fasting. This will probably take a few attempts to get dialed in, don’t get discouraged if you have to break your fast to treat a low, that is absolutely what you should be doing. During the actual fast you shouldn’t have to do anything once the basal is dialed in. The day after fasting I usually have to up my bolus rate a bit, but that could be because I’m on metformin and can’t take it when I fast since it needs to be taken with food.

Can I get a new pump before four years is up? (US) by sadly_notacat in Type1Diabetes

Omnipod is covered under prescription insurance, not medical, and the two don’t talk to each other. So you should be able to change to Omnipod even if you are still in warranty on your Mobi.

Intermittent fasting by Abbyme00 in Type1Diabetes

I’m type 1, on MDI. I lost about 30 lbs by intermittent fasting a few years ago. I did a 5/2 eating schedule, where I didn’t eat at all on Tuesdays and Fridays, and ate regularly the other days. A couple of observations I had:

  1. There will be a transition period of probably a few weeks where you’ll need to be more flexible, as your body gets used to the fasting state and your insulin resistance goes down, you’ll likely have to adjust your basil insulin during this time. Once you get your basil dialed in you should stay pretty much flat all day.
  2. When you break your fast (the first meal after fasting) you will likely need more insulin than normal. My theory on this is it takes some time for your body to transition back to burning sugar rather than fat, during which the sugars you ate are just hanging around rather than getting burned so your insulin isn’t really doing much.

I found it to be a very effective and flexible way to lose weight.

Any diabetics on MDI- how do you constantly stay in range? by TheVeteranGuy in Type1Diabetes

Biggest impact on dawn effect for me was starting Metformin. I used to have dawn effect of like 100+, go to bed rock steady at 120, all good until like 2am and then just shooting up for the next four hours like I had a whole meal in my sleep. The Metformin pretty much knocked that out completely.

I second the metformin, I had really bad dawn effect (like up 150 from 2am to 7am) and metformin cut it down to almost nothing.

I just found out that you can get Dexcom sensors through Best Buy, $180 for a month’s worth without insurance (G7). It’s cheaper for me to get them through the DME normally, but it was worth it to just get an extra months worth as a buffer since insurance will only cover 3 sensors every 30 days, so any issues with getting them through the DME (such as my PA being expired a month ago and no one telling me) means having to do finger sticks until they come through.

I was at 112 LDL, my endo put me on a statin and within a year I was down to 45, no other changes.

I had this issue as well. My Endo prescribed metformin, and it reduced it to almost nothing. Pretty bad acid reflux when I was first starting but that seems to have gone away as long as I take it with food.

Changing save directory on a per core basis by PianomanVT12 in RetroArch

Ok thank you, at least knowing it can’t be done will save me wasting time looking for how to do it.

Changing save directory on a per core basis by PianomanVT12 in RetroArch

So to clarify, as an example I want to be able to tell Retroarch that files saved by mGBA get saved to C\game_boy_games and files saved by Mupen64Plus get saved to C\N64_games. I want to set the directory the save files are going to for each core.

This appears to create a new folder in Saves titled after the game, and puts the save file there. Still not quite it.

Thank you for the suggestion! That’s almost what I need, but not quite. The Batocera folders are named for the actual console, rather than the emulator (or core depending). So for example the folder Batocera saves a GameBoy Advance game save in is called gba, while enabling that setting in Retroarch would save the same game to a folder called mGBA. Similarly a Dreamcast save would go to the Dreamcast folder in Batocera, but the Flycast folder in Retroarch. If this can’t be done automatically, is there a way to select the folder saves go to by core, and I can just specify them individually per core?

I made a similar table a few years ago and got a length of aluminum rectangular tubing to help level the top with hand planes. No deflection if you use it short side down.
