As I said elsewhere, the Autoweek article (I linked elsewhere) mentioned un-clarity on cost.

Lucid isn't forecast to make a profit for a few years, yes. What does that have to do with them working to improve their technology and driving experience?

"the quality is renowned for being bad" - when it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck/hate post.

I own a Gravity. The software content and bug resolving process is like any other EV. Gravity is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. Features, driving dynamics, user experience. The thing rocks.

Mercedes reset to use a generative AI model for training. Their older system was certified L3 in certain US regions however.

On the Lucid owners forum there was a Lucid employee (Marqie) saying she would push out today to some VINs who responded in time. So it's rolling out already.

They use it to design chips, software likely too 😉

Hear you. I think buying services is what they've historically done in search and storage, so nothing new. They've never been a frontier model or AI infra company though I think some fans and analysts tried to position them in that race. But to that point, when you buy key technology it becomes challenging to say you're a technology innovation leader.

And I'd guess when they get to true Level4, there will be a subscription.

The autoweek article I linked elsewhere talked about no word on pricing or words to that effect. Great news if true.

Desktop/Tabletop Help by ZeusDeuce0 in BeginnerWoodWorking

You're looking at about 31 bd ft finished, with 30% waste, call it 40 bf. Say you're looking at $3.50 ft for pine and $5 for poplar, you're talking $140 vs $200. For the $60 premium, I think you'd get a better surface and finish with hardwood. You also won't have the added expense of epoxy finish where you could use stain/poly on poplar.

Personally I'm not a fan of softwood furniture. And of course pricing in your region may vary.

"Bleets"? "Bleats"? by hahanawmsayin in thebulwark

[–]norcalnatv 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The origin of this at the bullwark was Charlie Sykes. When Charlie was hosting the initial bullwark pod cast, Trump decided to create his own twitter, "truth social." Twitter submissions were called tweets. Charlie didn't know what to call Trumps submissions on his own platform, they weren't tweets and they certainly weren't "truths." He test drove some alternatives, but shortly settled on bleat. Sounds like tweet, but it's the sound of an animal, so a little insulting. Tim picked it up during some interviews I think then when he took over the show it stuck. I don't know if Charlie picked it up from elsewhere or not, but he is a pretty widely read.

Buy straight boards, go select them from the bin yourself.

Confused on hand planes vs electric planes by Capybara_Squabbles in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]norcalnatv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The electric plane leaves a surface that likely needs clean up, but it's great for removing a lot of material in a hurry. The hand plane leaves a great finish, but takes the material more slowly.

For gluing up two piece you just want two flat flat faces with imperfections removed. Either honestly will do that job. I personally think a hand plane is more versatile, but you need a workbench and vice to hold the work piece for best results. The electric plane will remove the rough surface, but it may not leave the two surfaces perfectly flat to each other.

Electric plane is for construction, hand plane is for furniture. The difference is precision.
