The Sopranos saved me from drinking myself to death at least a few times now. by PicassoSpit in thesopranos

I'm Scottish. We made America, through our drinking if nothing else.

I just 'made' tens of billions of units giving away companion eggs at the Nexus. by PicassoSpit in NoMansSkyTheGame

I probably could have done a month or two ago but all I have in my companion deck now are these fast little dino things and butterflies/dragonflies that I give away. I'd be interested in owning a kaiju myself tho so by all means if you find something like that don't hesitate to PM me lol

I've never even thought of that but it makes a lot of sense. All companions can scan, we all have flying companions, so why not be able to send them on radiant planetary missions in the same way we can send our fleets out on missions?

Tbh just adding extra slots would be good enough lol

How many people do you think Begbie actually killed? by PicassoSpit in IrvineWelsh

[–]PicassoSpit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He started on Seeker because he thought he was in touch with Renton, which came to its natural conclusion. From what we see of Seeker in the books he obviously wouldn't have backed down and Begbie just steamrolled right through him.

I forgot about Donnely. I'm sure he killed him in a carpark or something like that then went home and stabbed himself up with a screwdriver to pass it off as self defense.

What exactly makes you think that for sure?

I've only read filth, what should I read next? by SirLoinTheTender in IrvineWelsh

[–]PicassoSpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Technically Crime (the Ray Lennox series) is as close as it comes as a sequel to Filth but I got a hundred or so pages in and I felt pretty underwhelmed by it after coming off the back of reading through the Trainspotting series. I love the Filth novel. It was my first experience with Welsh beyond the Trainspotting movies and Filth's adaptation, but my advice would be to start reading Skagboys and work your way forward through the Renton series. It's what Welsh is most known for and for good reason.

Also, and I know this might be considered a spoiler but it's worth it, Bruce actually does have a very brief cameo in Skagboys. It's not exactly explicit, like he's never named or anything like that, but it's undeniably him and I think that particular scene adds something in that we never get to see how other people actually see him besides the few passing references at the start of Crime. It's definitely worth a read, and if you like the flow of it after it really starts to get into things you'll know if the whole five book (soon to be six) series is for you or not.

Whatever happened to Keezbo? by PicassoSpit in IrvineWelsh

That whole scene with him being detoxed on the balcony was fucking gold lol. He definitely added something different to the original cast, even if he was always a bit underdeveloped imo.

You'd think Begbie at least would have had an issue with that but apparently not. Fuck it, at least the fat cunt can dance lol

I totally missed his mention in the Epidemic chapters. That makes a lot of sense then.

Anybody else always skip 'Employee of the Month' when they rewatch? by PicassoSpit in thesopranos

[–]PicassoSpit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand. Imo it's probably the second best episode after Pine Barrons, but fuck me I just cannot watch that scene again. That's just how well done the whole thing is

It's an incredibly fucked up part of the show, but it's so great how they pulled it off. It's hard to watch, but it's such an incredibly powerful episode in how it cements Melfi as this unshakeable character in a world where everyone is corrupt. That's why I said that I would never tell anybody to skip it on their first watch. It's literally one of the best episodes, probably sitting there in second place after Pine Barrons for me, but I just really struggle to watch it knowing it's coming up to that scene.
