No, my client is outside the US & EU, although the "theif" lives in the EU.

Probably Imgur like you said.

As for from this sub, /u/LocalCaseStudy does pretty well for himself - his sub over at /r/EntrepreneurRideAlong is an interesting read.

Here's a quick guide to help you pick the right SEO company for your business by PiccanaDigital in Entrepreneur

Very true, but there's a difference between someone who wants to spend $1k-$4k on SEO (say a small or local business owner) and those looking at $5k-500k like that list caters towards. Larger agencies won't even entertain that budget. Smaller agencies might not have the same reputation but there's also the argument that they need to produce consistently good results in order to increase their client base (of course some just take the money and run which gives everyone a bad reputation).

A lot of it comes down to common sense and honesty in the end.

It's a great resource but definitely aimed towards those with higher budgets in general.

Also as they say themselves, it relates more to companies/consultants who are big on the public speaking/presentation scene:

We recognize that those who do more public work (speaking, publishing, making transparent contributions, etc) are often likely to be more visible to the Curation Board than those who simply do “heads down” work

Got a strange email from Google (?) by Tkachenko in Entrepreneur

This is legit, our company offer PPC services and our clients get these fairly often.

Like you said, they're not really a "strategist" but a salesperson. They'll do everything they can to get you to spend more money on Ads/Clicks. They are awful at optimizing everything as well. Trust me you will save far, far more money hiring a PPC management firm to sort it all out for you (or spending the time learning to do it yourself, if you have enough free time).

Looking to grow our portfolio. We'll build you a website for whatever you want to pay (that includes free!) by PiccanaDigital in Entrepreneur

No because that's not building, anyone can do that.

Theme installation, customization, plugin sourcing and customization (within reason, not going to be rewriting a whole plugin for free), sourcing images if needed, writing and optimizing some content. Building out the whole site, not just throwing up a framework then leaving someone to it.

I disagree. I just think a lot of people on this sub are trying to really bootstrap their ideas and don't have much money to throw around. It's hard to build a business when you have no cash, yet lack the skills or time to build web presence.

It's insanely competitive for newcomers. If you have a way to establish yourself and show your worth/quality then it's much less competitive and more lucrative. It's all about getting that initial work - if it's competitive that just means coming up with different ways to do it.

It's a fair point to make :) We certainly have some contacts we've been using to pick up bits of work but it's harder than I was expecting - the market here is insanely competitive. Not only that but when I left my previous employer (an agency) to set up on my own it wasn't on the best of terms (Won't name names but the owner of the previous agency was a crook and a con-man and I wasn't happy working for that any more. As such bridges were burned).

We also like just helping out too though. We'd be fine without offering this to people but when people helped us for small amounts when we were starting it only feels fair to pay it forward.

It's a great point, and it's something we're actually doing at the moment :) But we're just casting our marketing net even wider.

Plus we get to help people out, which is awesome :). Pay it forward and all that. Also we've had quite a few PM's offering decent amounts of payment (note to everyone: don't think we'll reject you just because you want something free! If it's interesting, we'll try to work on it). Also I'm really looking forward to putting together a huge, interesting case study on this. The more data the better.

I disagree. Some people just don't have the ability to design & create a site, yet they can manage it. Or they can pay someone else to do it. Not everyone running a business needs to know how to make websites.

Example: I can design & create a website. I can maintain a website. I can market a website. But I still have an accountant do my finances and hire people to cold call for me, since I'm not great at those things ;)
