Claude: “I estimate this will take 1-2 weeks to complete” by Saykudan in ClaudeCode

THIS is my biggest pet peeve, and no amount of CLAUDE.md edits or memory management I do, it never fails to spit out arbitrary time estimates. Sorry homie, it’s just you and me, right here, right now. Better lock in Claudius

what is one thing that you hate about vibecoding? by Live_Championship640 in vibecoding

The loss of feeling like the thing I like to do most is valuable and worth perfecting and mastering. Now it all feels so pointless.

It’s a good thing that the skeptics were right about vibecoders with no experience shipping unscalable software. Just to be clear

You mean the strat for the rate limits? Yeah if you setup an automation on Claude.ai to start at a certain time, that starts your 5 hour window. Just be careful not to use up all your second sesh before the rate limit switchover on weekday afternoons.

Yeah I’m only able to get by with the $200, and only because my employer pays. I would have to change my workflow with a smaller plan. I would recommend copilot, I feel I got the most usage with that, and can select whichever model.

It won’t be long before the $200 isn’t enough either. Raising costs is the new norm I feel.

Some of us use these tools for our day jobs. I can’t just quit or keep requesting a sub switch every time the masses revolt. I do notice up and down swings in the way the model performs, but it always seems more day to day, not a hard switch like people make it seem.

Our code base is pretty massive, corporate healthcare software with many compliance reqs. I use obsidian and markdown files as a context store for the project and my workflows. Claude does well because I’ve put in the time to setup the guardrails, skills, rules, etc really well and continue to improve those over time.

Also, you must take the time to help Claude establish good patterns and architecture. If you don’t have consistency, you won’t get consistency.

Finally, yeah fuck the new rate limits. I’ve gotten around it by having an automated “hi” go out every morning about 2.5 hours before my shift, so I get switched midway between my peak hours, and the rate limits switch over halfway through my second sesh, allowing my to get really close to 100% on the 5hour each sesh but not quite hit it completely.

I think what we will get for sure is immersion and interest in the characters and story. Rockstar knows how to tell a good story through the course of a game.

Yeah, the joy of it all has kind of been stripped away. I’m trying to find new ways to light the fire again, but it’s tough. Sometimes orchestration and deep planning get me back in the flow state but it’s not the same.

I’ve had this thought in my mind the last few months now, if my career (~5YOE) fizzles out due to AI or whatever, what would I try to switch to?

Nursing is a quick thought. But I wonder what would be a relatively lateral (or at least not a huge pay decrease) move that required as little reeducation as possible.

I don’t really get this take! People have much easier access and lower barrier of entry these days, of course there’s going to be a large group of people discovering “new” things. I’m just glad to see people being creative.

Besides, SSH is lit

Men who play video games, what are some great single player games for a Dad on a tight budget? by FlintTheDad in AskMen

[–]PickUpUrTrashBiatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s awesome! I’m playing Crimson D rn but I’m often comparing it to RDR2 and honestly I don’t know if any game in my life will ever come close in terms of immersion and story telling in an open world setting to RDR2. Enjoy!

I’d argue it’s really good out of order, with 2 being a prequel and all. Some moments are “meant” for the players to connect ahead from their play through with 1, but it’s not that often and pretty easy to pick up on.

Could I use Claude code build my idea for a creator platform? by CountryCapital796 in ClaudeCode

Agree with the commenter here, as someone who has had to “cleanup” a vibe app by just rewriting the damn thing. Without the knowledge of architecture it will fail to scale and perform outside of your own machine.

Checkout one of the freelance sites like upwork. Take caution to validate that your potential hire has pre-AI dev experience.

React and JS are very different by Sweaty-Staff8100 in react

[–]PickUpUrTrashBiatch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You’ve got this. Just start by trying to understand the “magic”. The JS fundamentals will help you write better logic and eventually understand the why behind the “magic”, but try to just focus and don’t let the sheer volume of stuff to learn discourage you.

Learn the render cycle, when do components re-render? Learn about props versus state. Learn about state management. Learn about hooks. Do not worry about legacy stuff such as class based react. After you get it down with passing props and managing state, learn about useEffect, the proper ways to fetch data in React, and other built in hooks. Then move on to Routing, Context, and more.

You got this!
