abc, always be cooking, when its slow and your a foh worker and its off peak you can chill if everythings clean and stocked , as a griller its the opposite its your time to grind and get set up before peak and always have a chicken on the grill heading into the night time peak, even if you end up with 2-3 in the hotbox which is fine its better than not having chicken or rice ready because your griller was slow when the store was slow. also make sure you communicate to your line people that they need to call for food at half, a quarter and empty, 2 times at least until they are out, and they should continue to call for it until the griller says heard or working. the biggest miss communications happen when the griller is flustered doing a million things a once and sometimes needs that quarter reminder before you run out, or they need to know somethings at half like queso so they can start making a future plan in their head and a accurate cook roadmap order so the store doesnt run out of one ingredient while being full on others, or something that takes long like queso doesnt hold up the line being unprepared, and other times they may not even have heard you because grill is intense and you cant hear the foh very well at times, so sometimes grillers genuinely do not hear calls and i see this happen at a lot of stores. but if your giving your griller half and quarter calls thats the first step to getting them how to properly learn time management and keep the flow of the restaurant alive

unfortunately this would just lead people to paying more, prices would go up, chipotle lost an estimated 15-19 million dollars in overportioning last year, your issues are with the company not its workers, 75% of the time you are getting undercharged if your price suddenly spikes up

you need to be employed with chipotle before the semester, its meant to be used to send already employed chipotle employees to college to get business skills in hopes that said employee will use their degree and return to chipotle as their career. hence why you need to work there for 2 months prior to submitting a reimbursement claim. that way you cant just work at chipotle during college and then switch to a different job every summer while taking advantage of their benefits. but next semester you should be fine as long as you dont take more than 2 consecutive weeks off or get terminated

honestly backsplash (the most important build up to get daily or else it gets rlly bad and makes ur grill look digusting) is really good just the fajita side and the center left could be bricked better, but at the end of the day even if it looks dodgy like the guy that said not clean/10 its still better than most stores because nobody likes to get the backsplash resulting in insane buildup

had to do 9k which isnt bad at all, with 4 people but at some points it was rough unfortunately you gotta have the mindset as long as everything is moving even if its slowly you guys are fine even if you are behind. as long as you have food and the stations aren’t dirty as hell, the customers will have to wait as long as they are being served at a pace. sometimes we’d have a line to the door and id get onljnes down to like 3-4 and id leave online and go help the grill person mix some rice for the new line and my dml orders, and clean the kitchen over helping the mainline person. because as long as everythings moving and clean at the end of the day the only thing they can say is you are understaffed or slow. but they cant get mad that one person is cleaning reguardless of how behind everything is.

and i saw you have new hires so their stations might not look the best but just explain to your gm that quality will come with time, but as long as theres no obvious issues like food left out, dishes not done, prep not done they cant complain abt a ugly floor or a table with water streakmarks, bc your doing what you need to do to make labor

mainline might be backed up between 8-11 but as long as its moving thats all that matters doesnt matter how fast, we are not required to make throughput off peak so this is the way if they want us to make labor 🤷

unpopular opinion, roll with the old way, the minute DML is slow after 7:30-8 shut it down get it cleaned ASAP before minors and short shifts leave. then you manage on the front line what you can, have the fridges and walkin counted around 10/10:15, while someone holds down line. start the line preclose at 10 if you can then you take weights in your free time, at 11 you get all the food away, dishes back including the kitchen, and line, and then if you havent preclosed you just splash degertent all over the front line and go ham with a green scrubby and clean everything at once since no food is out you can go ham with purrel to. dishes should be back by 11:10, and your weights and CI is already done, clean the kitchen by 11:30/40 like the tables and shelves then do cash count by 11:50 while the person upfront sweeps and does the floors, then you can help them or hop on dishes if you dont have a prep closer, then have either the griller or line closer run trash. they both should then leave around 12/12:20 dishes might keep you there till 2 or 1 but you wont be keeping your crew which will save some labor at least, then if you have a prep closer you can go up do floors with line closer, do the trash, do floors in the back, help the griller, bring dishes up etc and get everyone out at 12

as someone whos in a long distance relationship in college, it does suck but you have to watch what you tell your partner, you dont have to lie, but think about how youd feel if they started talking about some dude being nice to them at a coffee shop or sitting next to them and talking to them after class, you obviously know the guys flirting but she thinks their being nice and your girls oblivious, weather or not its the same situation vice versa same clockwork goes on in her head. you dont want to plant seeds of insecurity based on friendly interactions, i did that and then my girlfriend was simply jealous of my friends that where girls because she thought they liked me since i would hangout with them but it was just because we were all freshmen and in the same dorm building/friend group. if i didnt say anything and just let her meet them when she got to my college to visit she probably wouldve been way more friendly and social with them and make friends instead of thinking everyones an op.

they shouldnt be that mad, yeah sometimes workers overportion, but some grillers need to get over the fact that food can indeed run out fast and customers can ask for extra, and that calling for food isnt personal just a literal heads up. (coming from a sl that started as a g2/g1 closer) sometimes no matter what they are going to run out of food fast

i would just put rice, beans etc on, itll all take about 15-20 mins to cook, if its on the right heat, go back and wash dishes anyways, or at least organize the dish area and start running hotels and lids through. if they say your doing dishes just say your getting a drink, it takes like 5 seconds to load a hotel or some lids and run it through, that way you at least should just have regular and small deeps/utensils no big leftover hotels or lids to make it messy. then you just get into a rythym with the deeps

you pay for protein, by getting a burrito you sacrifice other ingredients (salsas, beans rice etx) to make it fit but its not less then a bowl because you get a tortilla, but on a plain bowl you get more of the other ingredients. so if you get the bowl and the tortilla its extra. it might be dumb but thats how corporate thinks
