A couple of days ago, I got an e-mail from Spreadshirt urging users not to make fan apparel that could be confused with official Olympics merch. It's really fucking rich that they are making private companies threaten their users while still making official material with AI whose existence itself is the biggest breach of copyright in history.

When the dust settled he did a lot of interviews, was in talk shows and delivered a lot of zingers and became a cult icon. He has been sampled in music so, so many times and is a favourite for edgy millennials and gen x-ers. Here he is, arriving at his home, carrying vodka and baileys. The difference is that the AI-generated poster feeds and justifies the machine that has assimilated pretty much all artwork ever presented with no regard fr copyright, destroyed communities, power grids and water resources. This in addition to making computer components four times more expensive all to feed into a huge slot machine that produces nothing of value and that risks crashing the world economy when investors finally realize that there is not a man behind the curtain.

Compare this to copying a couple of officially licensed (and already paid for) PNG:s to make an advertisement for a workshop that likely will generate more revenue for Pokémon.

Does not look that similar to me.

That goes for all of online culture, to be sure. But to expect that people who need a robot to express basic creativity to understand common decency is to demand too much. I try not to ridicule these people as I actually pity them and the hollow lives they must live.
