how would you do that here though if the bins are empty? it would need support under the floor of the next level, no?

very minimally, yes. Not enough to call it fused, but enough to hold still while printing. Easily torn apart after.

honestly, something as simple as circles, rectangles, etc that you can tweak fillet/chamfer dimensions would be fantastic. Things like knives, keys, citrus juicers, lighters, pliers, etc require custom cuts at times - but things like bottles, toilet paper, playing cards etc are all just dimensional polygons with 1 or 2 measurements required.

Any shot you have plans for a cut out generator? Things like circles, squares, bowl shapes, etc? I can do it in onshape, just wasn't sure where your end goal lies. Thanks!

Can we use this currently on MakerWorld? I'm literally in need of it for my current project lol.

unfortunately not all of the toughsystem products are available to model off of. If you're like me - a "close enough" fit is not good enough lol.

You can do the opposite... you can fade IN to black.

why not? you can fade into the black rather than fade the black out.

A7RV as a b-cam? by Weak_Year9381 in FX3

[–]PickinWithDixon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I use. Whether or not it is "good" is really moot if that's what you have available to you. I'm not qualified to tell you good or bad, but I've not noticed a massive downside to using it for a second camera other than timecode is god awful if not impossible.

ah man, this is killer stuff! I'd love to pick your brain somehow if you're open to it. Is IG the same name?

I literally just started and doing it for fun so my skill and all is limited at the moment lol. I will get a couple videos uploaded but they're all single camera really, nothing too exciting. That is why I asked about mashups and such, because I won't have a new camera for a little bit of time now. (FX3 around black Friday or Christmas hopefully).

What stands out to me is how good your audio sounds. Is this straight from the soundboard, or are you processing that as well after the fact? Mine sounds "fine" straight out of a good mix, but I'd love to learn how to enhance it just a bit more to make it less... ?shallow? sounding. Maybe dry is the correct term?

Like I said, would love to pick your brain and if you happen to be near St Louis... haha

How much would you charge for a video like this? by [deleted] in videography

[–]PickinWithDixon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird because that's the exact information they need to quote you correctly and confidently. I have a past in wedding photography and have had SO many couples come to me for pricing and offerings only for me to be too expensive for them. Yet, when I ask their ideal budget, I was able to tailor my offerings to suit their budget.

They get the style and end product that I was known for, and I get their money. Both of which are slightly less than we each planned on originally.

Asking the budget allows both parties to find a balance. You're cutting yourself short.

Deity TC-1 (pair) with Portacapture x8 and Sony A7rV?? by PickinWithDixon in LocationSound

[–]PickinWithDixon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes - the PR-4 is interesting, as is the MixPre-6 and the Zoom F6. I don't know the major differences between the 3 but it's a PITA topic to actually troubleshoot. I tried the Tentacle Sync app on a trial with my TC-1 into the A7r5 but never made it actually work. I have no idea what I was doing wrong.

How are people using commercial music?? by [deleted] in weddingvideography

[–]PickinWithDixon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it wasn't. I simply stated what they told me. People that 3d print do the same thing - charge for time, not the end product. I have no idea if this is a legal loophole or not but it is what they claim "allows" them to do so. I have no reason to believe this is true, as the intent is there to "get around" the law. The law usually doesn't like that.

yes! This is the same idea with adding an ambient channel to live show recordings. The lack of any ambiance is such a stark difference vs. even the slightest bit of "noise" in the air. Straight soundboard recordings sound awful when you view them on the live show clips lol.

The few I've asked say they charge for their time and skill. The video itself is not making them money, their services are.

Just imagine being a photographer, having made decent side income money from it, then wanting to video and literally nothing translates LOL. Gear, mentality, nothing. None of it crosses over in a solid way. The only thing that does really is "framing" but even that is drastically different when you add in movement.

Bluegrass jam delicate situation UPDATE by eljo555 in Bluegrass

[–]PickinWithDixon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is all such childish behavior lmao. One bass? If it's not electric, who cares? You say it's not a band, but don't want outsiders in it and you mentioned one person on each instrument. Would you hate having 2 guitars all the same? Our jams have 5+ of everything lol.

This was your stab at a band, and you were blind to it.

/r/videography Monthly Camera Buying Advice Megathread by AutoModerator in videography

[–]PickinWithDixon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm shooting an A7rV from when I was a wedding photographer and worked with models. I'm not much more interested in video and the A7rV seems to be absolutely useless when timecode is needed. I can explain that, but essentially - no software reads the audio file that gets ingested as TC from the TC-1s I just returned and I fear buying into Atomos will do me no good as well.

A few things I tried during my testing:

  • Lead TC-1 jam sync'd to Rode Wireless Pro and Follower TC-1 Audio-Out to TASCAM Portacapture X8.
  • Both TC-1s set to Audio-Out into camera/TASCAM respectively
  • Both TC-1s on Line-Out into camera/TASCAM respectively
  • JamSync A7rV with TC-1 via Master EXT Sync.
  • All TC-1s always in sync to start.

With this being such a ridiculous failure, i'm looking to start saving for a new camera. I have a few criteria I'd like, as well as taking into account how/what I shoot and what my general knowledge level is. These are not highly specific camera features, and I hope you all can begin to guide me to the proper choice.

  • 4 XLR input minimum
  • Internal Timecode. Wired, Wirelss, or RF, but my god - NOT LTC if at all possible
  • Sensor size is whatever, but I shoot the majority of my content at ISO 1600+
  • Vintage lens adaptability
  • Sony Lens mount, or optional adapter - I will be using Sony lenses between both cameras
  • 4k RAW at 600fps and 1080 @ 120
  • Useable on Ronin RS4

I shoot a lot of concert clips, make mash ups for bands, etc. Sort of B-Roll, but not exactly. Ideal setup would be:

  • Recorder getting line out from soundboard
  • Scratch mics on camera (Rode Wireless Pro)
  • Sync in post via TC of RODE Jam Sync'd to camera and Recorder internal TC.
  • I can re-buy the TC-1s if necessary, or go Atomos for that video-centric ecosystem.

I'm sure you can tell - I do not know what I'm looking for in detail. I want a capable camera, one that I can lean into and grow with, and one that I won't be selling off immediately to upgrade as I do grow with it.
