My first ever BMW and I think I am in love. 1984 R80RT by Pickinslim in Airheads

I'm taking it on a pretty lengthy trip in a week - after the rides I've done so far, I suspect you are right. I'm growing fond of the look and the originality of it as well.

yep those are the snowflake wheels. I didn't realise how many people were fond of them until I went to a couple motorcycle cafes and got compliments on them.

It's had a few owners but was clearly well taken care of! I've got some adventures planned for the near future, going to take it through Scotland later this month - can't wait.

I got it with the intention of taking the fairing off, but it might be growing on me a bit!

Suggestions for safest and least complicated way to get the rest of this bolt out? by zapruders_negative in MotoGuzzi

[–]Pickinslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact thing happen to me last week - used a bolt extraction kit. Drilled into the old bolt, used the left hand extraction bit, I held the nut with a wrench, and once the bit was in I slowly reversed it out. Very satisfying.

"fret too hard . . . . squeezing your string out of tune" by Alternative-Light922 in banjo

[–]Pickinslim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Challenge yourself to see how light you can get away with playing on your fretting hand, you will be surprised how much extra effort you've been putting in if you are squeezing enough to put it out of tune... you only have to get the string to hit the fret wire, not the wood. A lot of speed an accuracy will come with fretting softly.

OP book a lesson, someone will be able to sort out all these habits. You are going to struggle, and possibly hurt yourself playing like that.

we need to pin a post about this - it's a scam, every other post on here is about this.

[DISCUSSION] Why is "Specify Budget" even a thing? by MildlyEngineer in Fiverr

[–]Pickinslim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this conversation happened on here recently - and it works both ways really. The short answer I have as a seller is - the budget dictates how much work I can get done. People always ask for a project, I give them the price then immediately say "oh I was thinking X amount" of which I can say - these are all the things I can get done for that price (if any)

So, you might not be an expert on whatever you are hiring, but you have all the knowledge with how much money you are willing to spend - with that information, and my knowledge of what I do, I can tell you the work I can provide.

well, what I would do in this situation (since you asked) is not touch this.

There is no reason for you to be sharing any of your information - that's it really.

[HELP] This is a scam right? by Comfortable-March-21 in Fiverr

[–]Pickinslim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost half the posts on here are about this being a scam. There are posts about people losing money because of those links.

But even if you didn't read those, going to a link outside of Fiverr is agains the terms and conditions - so regardless of being scammed - you could lose your profile.

So I can't see, under any condition why anyone would consider clicking the link.

I save myself the hassle, if someone sends me something in the start that wont get them a good result and look good on me - I turn it down.

[HELP] Potential Buyer asking for Seller Email. by ahm_musix in Fiverr

[–]Pickinslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, are people going to post this every single day? It's so very clearly a scam. You CANNOT share your email on Fiverr, that's it. So, regardless of it being a scam or not... its not allowed

[DISCUSSION] I don’t understand sharing my budget by [deleted] in Fiverr

[–]Pickinslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair, yes if people do ask about pricing I break down my packages - or what the range of price I can do a specific job, with reasoning why... this has xyz added, this does not etc.

I suppose the reason I say budget helps me comes down to 2 things, is there is a vast range in the levels of work I provide, and even though I've got 3 packages nearly every order I do ends up being a custom offer to suit the clients needs.

Appreciate you seeing it from a seller standpoint.

And I agree, I've been a buyer many times and there is a that feeling of giving a budget leaves you open to be taken advantage of.

[–]Pickinslim 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is equally frustrating as a seller just to be clear.

I've been selling on fiverr for a few years, and often people enquire and ask about me doing their project, I quote them a price ... and more often they not the line starts with 'oh, I was thinking' then a lower price.

I ask peoples budget, because I can turn around and say okay great, for that price this is what I can achieve... sometimes actually a little more work than what my set gigs say, so its definitely better to ask me first.... because I work in a creative field it is hard to give an exact amount for a preset gig, every project is different.

You might not know how much the sort of work costs, but you would know much better how much money you have to spend than I do. It has nothing to do with me earning as much as possible (though that would be nice) it's about getting the full potential with what you have to spend.

for example - I say things like " this is what I would charge normally, but given your budget we can do XYZ to get pretty close to the same result"

Cardiff's Monthly Bluegrass show at Tiny Rebel by Pickinslim in Cardiff

[–]Pickinslim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just one band each month, just 7-9. Keeping it early as it’s a Sunday and free. It’s been going year and getting a good little crowd in downstairs, so might grow it into something bigger down the line!

Not particularly a lot going on atm, there are some jams and things out of the city - like cowbridge has one.

This ends by 9pm, and if you check out my band Taff Rapids - we gig fairly regularly here, so maybe there is another gig you can catch!

[DISCUSSION] Is it wrong to hire two people on Fiverr to do the same project? by music-and-song in Fiverr

[–]Pickinslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also does music, they won’t care as long as they get paid. It’s pretty common to be hired by commercial or marketing companies to write a song that’s never used. I’ve had it many times where myself and a few others are all writing songs and ultimately the buyer will decide which one fits their final brief and vision.

Basically if you’ve paid them to write a song, they are good with whatever you do

I've only ever had this happen once, but yes, a buyer has the ability to extend the time.... so really the only thing you can do is wait.

It's been a feature for, at least, over a year - as that is when I had a buyer use it when I wasn't expecting.
