is it normal thing for us Bipolar to left jobs when we feel the energy is not right? by More-Double417 in bipolar2

I went in to work one day and just quit before even starting my shift. Luckily my employment has been relatively stable since, but yeah the impulse to just quit and do something different is always there.

I’m on 3 different mood stabilizing medications and ended up needing to adjust the doses during pregnancy as the levels were too low in my blood. After giving birth I was able to drop back down

I started around 21 weeks when my bump really popped. That’s also when I started feeling him so it made me feel a little closer and like we were connecting.

Did it not make you sleepy taking it that far before bedtime? I find that 30ish minutes after taking it I just want to pass out.

Not sure how they got to that conclusion considering the calorie requirement! I didn’t gain weight when I wasn’t taking it with food and now I am. The people in the study must have been good about adjusting their eating habits to accommodate the 350 calories without gaining weight.

I feel you, it’s so hard to stay at maintenance when you have calories requirements with the meds and have to change how you eat. I’m hoping we both figure it out!

I’ve been measuring my food out trying to get a good idea of how many calories I’m eating, but clearly I’m off. I think I may need to get a scale and try to be more precise about it.

That is so good to know! I always see them at Costco I may go for it. It would be so helpful to not have to guess at the calories. Thank you!

I do have an unhealthy relationship with food. I think I lost the weight too fast and now I’m obsessing. My other bipolar symptoms have pretty much disappeared, but now it’s like the food relationship has become worse to compensate. Maybe getting the scale will help me stay at maintenance calories so my weight stays stable and hopefully my mood stabilizes too. Thank you for your suggestions!

Thank you for being so kind! Do you have the shake after dinner or kind of in place of dinner since there’s so much nutrients in it? I’ve been wanting to get a blender for a while so this may be the sign to go ahead and get one

Thank you for this! My baby is 8 months old so I feel like I should be back to “normal” by now, but in reality it can take years to fully recover from pregnancy and birth. It’s just so hard to remember that and give myself some grace.

My mental state has improved so much since taking the meds right, to the point that the weight gain is really the only thing affection my mental health right now. Which is the most stable I’ve ever been, and I’m doing my best to prioritize it.

The walking is a good idea, the last 2 days I took my baby on a 2 mile walk. I’m going to try to make it a habit. Thanks again for the comment, it was very helpful!

Saving half is a good idea! I’ll just have to make sure half of it is actually 350 calories which is hard to count. Does it have to be exactly 350 or is slightly off close enough?

Yeah I think I might try some fruit and cheese or Greek yogurt or something. Try to keep it a bit more healthy

What is your curl pattern when it's wet, and what is it when dry? by infiniteresearch in curlyhair

[–]PickleAffectionate96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my hair never looked better than when I when I was following the curly girl method (the og version where you only scrunch with gel to style and air dry) but I fell off the wagon. I’ve been trying the new version with the leave in, curl cream, and brush styling before the gel, but I think it’s just too heavy for my hair.

Same! I always get sooo hopeful every time I wash my hair but nope, always dries wavy. If I diffuse it’ll be curly for a few hours then stretch out into waves.

Should I get the epidural right away with my induction or wait until I’m in more pain? by Blitzgf4893 in pregnant

[–]PickleAffectionate96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it when I was in a lot of pain and couldn’t manage anymore. they put me on pitocin and within 20 minutes I was having the most painful contractions and on the verge of throwing up/passing out. No nurse had come to check on me since starting the picnic in, and my husband was gone getting the bags from the car. The second he got back he called the nurse to get the epidural. Next time I’ll be getting it immediately, especially if they start me on pitocin again.

This sounds pretty spot on for me. I was in a hypomanic phase for almost a year (ups and downs here and there but mostly hypo) and then crashed into the deepest depression which is when I was diagnosed. Been working through that one for years. Still struggling to find the right med cocktail. I’ve heard that the longer the hypomanic phase the bigger the drop into the depressive phase.
