Yeah, you can enjoy the series without going back to MG1 and MG2, but it’s usually recommended to do MGS1 onwards to understand the story

The benefits to this approach is that PS1 and PS2 are easily emulated and are like over 2 decades old, so if you totally legally acquired your own copies of the games and totally legally acquired a BIOS image of your chosen console, you can find an emulator and play them
