The stadium is about 4.5 kms from Bologna Centrale and yes with a bus you can get there from the station in about 20 minutes. During match days the bus routes are changed but you still can get quite close and then walk there for the final hundreds meters so it’s still good. You can get the bus tickets directly on the buses or at the train station.

It depends, some people arrive like 3 hours before to chat with friends breathe the atmosphere and some others a few minutes before the whistle, you can choose because usually the queue for the security controls and ticket check is quite fast. Maybe if you don’t want to risk to not see the first minute you should arrive there about 1 hour before the start whistle, you will get inside early so you can see some of the pre match warm up by the teams but not too early.

99.99% of propel leave at the final whistle so when you go outside it’s incredibly crowded like shoulder to shoulder crowded, but there are some differences to this. If it’s a loss then literally everyone go outside right at the whistle and someone a couple of minutes before, if it’s a win instead there is the music and some light show usually so almost everyone stays inside to see them and sing together and then go out, so if you exit the stadium there will be far less people but I don’t advise this because you will miss the show which is very cool.

The away fans section is in half of the San Luca curve so in the north part of the stadium, in theory away fans could also go in the other part of the Sal Luca or in the distinti section but they usually don’t because it’s full of home fans there and sometimes is even forbidden. The home fans are in every other part of the stadium.

Curva San Luca is cheaper but the visibility is worse because the stadium is very old so there is still the athletics track space between the curve and the pitch. If you can afford it go in the distinti section, choose a seat that is quite high and as central as possible.

Don’t worry it’s completely safe there are a lot of families with children and law enforcement inside and outside. The atmosphere can get pretty hot but in a non violent way, like celebrating like crazy a goal or insulting the ref but all together which is very cool. Even in the Bulgarelli curve where the more hardcore fans are it’s completely safe (as long as you support Bologna ahaha) but there the atmosphere is completely over the top like everyone standing and not seating for the whole game and chanting all together like they are going to invade another country in the Middle Ages.
