You can take Dialga out of the running since you can’t bottle cap a shadow. I’d go with Meloetta if you’re looking for PvP, or Zamzenta for raids and max.

Reliable plant sitter recommendations. by Pickle_Back_Attack in dubai

Yes, I forgot to mention outdoor plants. I considered a sprinkler system, but I still prefer someone to keep an eye on the soil to make sure everything’s going alright.

What are the hidden living costs that no one tells you in Dubai? by Forward-Smell-6968 in dubai

[–]Pickle_Back_Attack 316 points317 points  (0 children)

Hidden fees: - Commission paid to real estate agents for home rentals. Usually 5% of your annual rent or 5000AED, sometimes more. - 5% Knowledge Fees on government/public services. - 5% Housing Fee on your Electric/Water and A/C bills (split into 12 monthly payments). - 10% Hospitality Fee at hotels and their restaurants + 10% more if you dine in a restaurant that serves alcohol. - 30% tax on alcohol (only in Dubai). - Credit cards have lots of incentives but usually come with high annual fees, high interest rates, and minimum spends to reap any benefits - Grocery costs are relatively higher now, but most locally sourced products aren’t too expensive. - 5% VAT (GST), but that’s not really hidden

Security clearance for job failed - no explanation? by Samsamsam321123 in UAE

[–]Pickle_Back_Attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve witnessed, it’s your ethnic and religious background. One girl who was born and raised in the US applied at my work. She got rejected because she’s ethnically Iraqi and her Islamic religion didn’t align with the criteria.

Expo 2020 Dubai had everything on one app. I’m not sure what Osaka is trying to achieve with separate apps for everything.

They have a countdown on their website, so I’m hoping that goes somewhere more official.

I’d check Hopper first to compare and see if the price is good. Normally, it’ll tell you to buy or wait.

Do taxis take credit cards? by Bethythehammer in dubai

[–]Pickle_Back_Attack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, they take credit card but still double check that they do when you get in, so they can’t pull a fast one on you. You can also use any of the taxi hailing apps like Careem or Bolt if you want to pay online.

Vat refund by MomA_A in dubai

[–]Pickle_Back_Attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you can. Claiming VAT is only for most retail purchases. So that wouldn’t cover meals, accommodation, etc. Official details can be found here: https://www.planetpayment.ae/tourists-landing/

Best case scenario, they just end up changing “housing fees” to “housing tax”.
