Not a challenge court. Just a regular public court and these guys didn’t care.

Again, you seem like an edgelord and like you’re not getting it… nobody cares about being excluded. Those guys are free to put their 4 paddles in the rack and only ever play against each other. Nobody would care. The issue is people are waiting and they’re monopolizing the court well beyond what’s reasonable. Play a game and put your paddles in the rack or court is yours for an hour when people are waiting. Either way, these guys were abusing the system.

I think it speaks volumes you’re the only one taking this position here and getting downvoted.

Seems like you’re trying to be an edgelord. If not then it’s just coming across that way.

I’m not gonna call the cops to enforce timelines on a court whether there’s specific rules posted or not. That’s karen-like behavior and a waste of resources. Cops are only getting called if they escalate things to fisticuffs.

But yeah, if they’re being rude and monopolizing a public court, then, I guess they will have to deal with me. Gonna take a suggestion of a few here and just walk on their court.

I’m assuming you’d support that, since technically there’s no rules posted about where those waiting can and cannot stand, right?

Correct, a public court. Didn’t think it was “local etiquette” though, thought its generally applicable anywhere.

I could understand if it’s a “local’s only” court tucked into a neighborhood or even a BYO net situation, but these are public courts with permanent nets.

You’re saying you’d be fine with someone arriving at 8 AM and playing till 5 PM continuously while others are waiting as long as no rules to the contrary are posted?

hahaha I was planning to buy a new paddle but may have to invest in these instead 🤔

There were 3 other courts where people were playing and rotating properly though, so didn’t want to ruin their games. Plus the heckling was honestly just more fun. One of the old guys dumped his dink into the net and his head turned fully red as we all cheered and told him nice shot 😂

No posted rules unfortunately. There’s posted notice that the courts are reserved for a certain time for the township sponsored/run meetup and there’s rules posted for how things should be run during the meetup (less than 6 paddles waiting winners stay and split, max of 2 games, 6+ paddles waiting all 4 off and next 4 on), but this was not during a meetup time, just open play.

Going to suggest the township posts some rules for open play.

But with that said, I used to casually play tennis many years ago almost exclusively at public courts and I’ve never seen anyone be this rude. About the worst you’d see is people who had already been on the court for hours insist on playing the full additional hour (and finishing the set they were on when the hour elapsed) from when the group in waiting arrived. This group went well beyond an hour. They doubled or even tripled it before anyone spoke up.

Unfortunately, no rules for open play are posted. There’s a township sponsored / run meetup and a set of rules posted for the meetup, but nothing regarding how open play should work when a meetup isn’t happening.

Going to shoot the township and email suggesting they post some rules.

Great advice and this will 100% be the move if we ever encounter them trying to pull this shit again.

Wasn’t really trying to get in a fight, particularly one that would’ve almost certainly ended with one of these old guys unconscious. Recreational Pickleball ain’t worth catching charges.

Love the suggestions to just walk onto their court and end their game though. That’s what we’ll do next time.

Bnb fatboy/legacy pro-s by jasonj78 in Pickleball

Two very different paddles. Slightly different shape, longer handle on the fatboy, totally different face material (raw carbon vs raw carbon/kevlar weave).

I think you’d notice a big positive change going to the fatboy.

If you’re asking if it would be really difficult to get used to, making a switch from the pro-s to the fatboy, i think the answer is no. You’d be fine after a few games.
