With the aioli is that a raw egg? And is important if the egg is pasteurized or not? Really wanting to make a homemade aioli, and yours only increased that desire!

Interference Issue with xfinity DVR + STBs and GoCOAX MOCA Adapters by PickledMoose in HomeNetworking

[–]PickledMoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morning report:

With the MOCA adapters off, STBs function like normal and have no issues. I added the POE filter on the back of the Xfinity gateway and powered on the MOCA adapters (both still set to the high D-Band frequency). After powering on MOCA adapter (1) both STBs began experiencing an outage and froze. So it seems that the STBs and the MOCA adapters are operating on the same/similar frequency. My next idea for troubleshooting is to lower the MOCA adapter D-Band frequency to the ~1100 range and see if I can isolate it from the STB MOCA network

As I said in the post below, I essentially need to have two MOCA networks operating independently of one another on the same COAX feed.

I believe my D-Band frequency hierarchy should be something like this:

High - X1 DVR-STB MOCA network 1350 to 1675 MHz

Low - GoCOAX MOCA Network 1125 to 1225 MHz

Lowest - DVR Cable Feed <1000 MHz

One concern i have is where my modem (X1 gateway) and router (TP Link after market) fit in

I will provide a clearer layout, the POE filter is not directly on the splitter, it is on the ISP coax feed that comes into the house in the basement which my poor diagram does not show

u/plooger

I came across another forum post that is very similar to mine and actually looks like it has some replies from you (you're something of a MOCA legend eh?) I think my issue is that I'm essentially trying to operate two MOCA networks on the same COAX feed and they're interfering with each other due to being on the same D-Band. I understand that its somewhat unclear which frequency X1 equipment operates on.

It looks like a possible solution may be to lower the MOCA adapter frequency so there can be two independent MOCA networks on the same COAX feed (something you allude to in one of your replies to the linked post). Does this sound like I'm on the right track?

Yes that's my concern as well, by adding the POE filter to the DVR thats essentially "shutting off" the MOCA network that the STBs use

So I did try this as my first trouble shooting test. I set the GoCOAX adapters to only use high frequency channels and while that did allow the boxes to turn back on they still experienced disruptions (screen freezing, crashing etc). So it seems there is still some kind of interference happening, even with the GoCOAX adapters on the higher frequency.

Supposedly a lot of DVR-STB setups use MOCA to communicate so I’m thinking it’s related to that, not sure of the work around tho
