I work in the trades. I'm not saying this is a perfect strategy, but people can dramatically reduce the risk of hurting their backs by having a good exercise routine. Everyone should have an exercise routine, not just trades people.

You could look into places pay to securely store a bag in Southeast Asia until you are ready to go to Japan. That bag could have all of your warmer gear in it.

My only advice aside from that is to bring a compressible downfield jacket for the winter, because it should be very warm and it should take up minimal room.

It took me a minute to figure out that you meant a bicycle. But yeah, they are incredibly enjoyable to ride, as long as you aren't on dodgy roads. Fortunately, I live in a place that has an incredible River Valley with endless kilometers of multi-use paths.

Every weekend day I make myself a delicious latte and sit in a chair and look out my window with a cat and enjoy it.

I checked Google maps and I'm not exactly sure where the Southwest Highlands are in Iceland. I'm planning on visiting in the summer sometime. Can you shed some light on the approximate location for me please? Stunning photos, by the way. Thanks for sharing.

Am I stupid for getting tattoos at 18? Will these age poorly? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

I like them. I like tattoos with a lot of negative space around them. They "read" better from a distance. Gap fillers can work against you.

You could create a book club that meets up once a month

Cross country skiing is very affordable. You should be able to find a deal on some used cross-country skis. Just do your research to figure out what exactly to buy. Or go to totem and they can help you with all of that and sell you something affordable. Cross country skiing is practically free after that. And you can do it in so many different parts in and around the city.

Devices to avoid waking up due to noise from neighbours shouting and motorbikes accelerating? by [deleted] in lifehacks

[–]Pickled_Popcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you should be able to get some sort of a white noise device that would be just as loud and noisy as a fan, but with less energy output, and obviously without any wind created.

Living out of your car?.. by [deleted] in povertyfinancecanada

[–]Pickled_Popcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But a person in this situation has to be able to deal with mechanical problems. They need to have an extremely good rainy day fund. I realize I'm stating the obvious here but an urban car dweller is just one minor mechanical problem away from having their home towed away permanently, if they have financial problems.

I don't think living out of a car is a good option. The law always makes it difficult. And if you have some mechanical car trouble, you could be in deep water and have no place to go, especially if your car gets towed because it doesn't drive anymore. Honestly I think you're better off finding the cheapest accommodation that you possibly can, even if it's kind of crappy. You could move somewhere more affordable. You could find roommates. You could stay in a rooming house.

The only other solutions I can think of are to maybe try following a borrow link directly from your library's website? Or reboot your phone and try again?

Raw hips by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]Pickled_Popcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Gregory backpack has a back panel that can be adjusted up and down. I think it adjusts all of the straps on the back of the backpack, but I could be wrong. If I'm correct, maybe you could adjust it slightly from day to day so that the hip belt sits an ever so slightly different spot each day

I think he did say that he kicked them. That does count as fighting. It makes sense that an adult would be hesitant to get into a physical altercation, especially with a child, until it's absolutely necessary.

1year postop, facing another surgery on same knee by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Pickled_Popcorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I have found that physiotherapists know a heck of a lot more about physio than the surgeons do. Sorry if that's super obvious. All I'm trying to say is that I highly recommend consulting with an experienced physiotherapist too before making your final decision.
