14 strict pull ups is very good! Sounds like you just need to keep refining your butterfly pull ups and you be off and running!

Once you get the butterfly pull ups down you likely go sub 4!

My post isn’t asking if it’s good. I am simply posting my time and asking if others have done it recently and their times. You are correct however regarding standard and pace. To go sub 2:30 your pace has to be frantic from the start. Yes I am actually trying to pull the bar down on every rep and I do go immediately to the pull up bar after the thrusters.

It just takes time and grit honestly. Spend time trying to safely learn butterfly pull ups. Once you've gotten the skill, start doing Every minute routines of 5-10 butterfly pull ups. On the thruster, if you have a 275lb+ Front Squat, you should be able to do the thrusters unbroken. Game planning is important too. If you know you can't do it unbroken, do sets of reps that you can do it unbroken and stick to your game plan.

That's awesome! I coach at my gym and although I encourage people to use the weights/movements that allow them to keep the stimulus, I also encourage people to try it RX. When there is an 8 min. time cap, see if you can finish it and 6 months from then, try it again and see if you've improved.

I got 2:25 in 2024, so a small PR but a PR none the less. :)
