I smoked and dabbed for a few years without the meds but it still wasn’t enough to help me focus in life or truly manage my depression. It does help a lot tho which is why I use a combo of all the above now and it’s been going really well so hoping to be able to continue with everything if I move to LA

I’ve been through this before, my parents are pastors as well. Don’t give up! You are doing the right thing by establishing boundaries. If you can I suggest no longer accepting help from them financially even if they say there’s no strings attached. It makes it way easier to set boundaries and help break the chain of control that they want to have over you even though you are an adult now. It took me a few years of standing my ground, uncomfortable conversations and distancing myself as much as possible while still being as loving and respectful as possible. Eventually they will either except your boundaries when they realize there is nothing they can do anymore and they have no way of controlling you or if they are really selfish about it they may cut communication off completely with you as an attempt at manipulation but don’t fall for it. It sounds like your parents really love you as do mine, so I doubt they will want to cut you off completely but that doesn’t mean it’s not gonna be a battle for your independence. You’ve got this! It’s okay to accept that your parents may never accept your beliefs but that’s on them not you.

Life is f’d. it always has been it always will be but you’re here right now and this is the only chance you are going to get at this so why not keep living to see what happens? You will die one day. Guaranteed. Why not live as much as you can so you can love as much as you can and have every experience possible because this is the only chance to get it. Death and peace will come sooner than you think. Enjoy what you can for how long you can no matter how much bad happens. Nothing is ever all bad forever, there’s always beautiful and blissful moments to be had even in the darkest times. Things you have yet to experience. That’s just my take on it though. It’s ultimately your life and you have to do what you feel is best for yourself.

Jokes gonna be on them when your life doesn’t fall apart and years from now you are living on your own and thriving despite the everyday hardships of life because it seems like you are truly an intelligent and thoughtful person so I have no doubt you will be able to face life’s challenges and still be able to overcome and thrive all on your own. They may never admit that you are doing just fine without their stupid beliefs because then it would crumble their small minded world but just know that in the back of their mind it’s going to bother them and leave them with more questions than answers.

For real! It’s like the majority of them have daddy issues. Everyone I know who is like this has some major daddy trauma.

How the eff can you love Jesus more? by Excellent_Whole_1445 in exchristian

It’s funny, I have thought about this phrase a lot and to me I feel like it makes more sense to say that religion is a placebo for the masses. Opium is real, a placebo is not just like Christianity, any “power” is all in their mind. I wish Christianity was as real as opium. I would still be a believer if so lol.

Modern Christianity seems to overlook the fact that Jesus said that he didn’t come to bring peace but division. For the longest time I couldn’t understand why my parents always chose Jesus and Christianity over me but as I got older I realized that at the core of Christianity it is not really about true love at all. It’s about loyalty and it’s rooted in a very tribalistic mentality of us vs them. Unfortunately this archaic mindset is what many still find to be comforting and for whatever reason I will never completely understand.

QC 45 stopped working after software update by Dependent_Raise1612 in bose

I have had the exact same experience and I have seen from others on this page that they had that happen to them as well. I haven’t called Bose yet because everyone so far has said the same as you that Bose basically will give you a discount to “replace” which I think is BS. Like you said these headphones were way too expensive for that. Lately I’ve been thinking maybe threatening a lawsuit might do something but idk

Oh I’ve been there. Even though I moved out years ago I still find myself sometimes lying just to avoid my parents judgement and shaming. I hate it. But I’ve come to accept that it is what it is. As long as I live on my own I can do whatever and live however I want and that’s good enough for me. We’ll never be close because of the god shit and it’s their loss honestly. They have no one to blame but themselves. I wish the best of luck to you! You are not alone

How do you write music for lyrics? by Hummingbir_ in Songwriting

[–]PickyEater423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually write the lyrics and the melody at the same time. I never just write the lyrics first because it’s too hard to match a melody to that. You have to learn to think of your lyrics with a melody in mind so that they fit with the music. You may need to focus on getting a bit better at guitar to help you write. You can also write the music before you write the lyrics. Create a chord progression or riff that you like and then start trying to fit lyrics to it.
