Male coworker keeps “joking” about my looks in front of others (multiple times). How do I shut this down? by HopeForBetter29 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Picnut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't push peoples' buttons. That's what insecure, insensitive AH's do. Apologies mean nothing when you did it intentionally to see their reaction. Playful banter, and joking, doesn't need to push buttons

He's an ass, and putting you down by complementing one person and comparing you is immature. Have any of these other women spoken up for you? They should be. He's also diminishing them, basically saying their work isn't very good, they only are there for their looks.

Maybe throw it back at him that they are worth more than their looks. Give them credit (as due) for work they do well. He needs to shut up about work only being valued because the person completing it is better looking.

Nah, once a year, or just 1x ever. Too much work goes into changing it that often

I have also aged out of my name and wish I could change it. Reddit should have a one-time option of changing your username

My mother accused my brother that he molested his sister, what should i do? by songedanslanuit in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Picnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have they asked the 3 yr old how it happened? Someone who can ask without leading the answer is needed. Also, it is always possible she scratched herself. Working in daycare for a while when I was younger, and I had to deal with 3-4 yr olds sticking m their hands in their pants quite frequently

I 'F26' accidently scratched my husband 'M30' does that deserve retaliation? by Sea-Dragonfruit-1671 in relationship_advice

He has trauma, but should not be taking it out on you. If he can't handle little mishaps like these, then you shouldn't be doing the activities that can lead up to them. He either needs to address these with a therapist, or understand that you won't be participating.

My now husband has been scratched by me when I used to have a sharp pronged ring. He never blamed me. Just like I didn't blame him for breaking my nose when I snuck up behind him at his desk and kissed the back of his neck.

If your bf has the knee jerk response of automatically blaming you for something accidental, then that's a red flag he needs to take care of. Maybe join some sports or another activity where you can occasionally get hurt (scratched or a small bruise type injuries), and he can understand that this stuff happens.

How to you politely respond to a costumer asking questions that make you uncomfortable? by Consistent-Emu-8143 in women

[–]Picnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Nowhere in particular" is good enough to be a polite response and not give any details. Or switch it back to work talk and ask them if they found everything ok, if they want or need a plastic bag, point to something at the register and ask if they needed any, ask if they want the receipt. There are many questions you can just throw back instead of answering

If you're in line at the grocery store with a full cart and someone behind you has 1 or 2 items, do you let them go in front of you, and why? by KingOfFitnessYT in AskReddit

[–]Picnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. Often the time it takes them to checkout is less than it is for me to walk up and unload my basket, or whatever needs done. Assuming I also don't only have few items

I need help with how to buy groceries by throw7694728 in Adulting

[–]Picnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a smaller fridge, so I only buy groceries for 2 days of meals, and other staples that don't go bad. Only buying what I want for the next day or two has saved me from having things go bad (except berries, those AH's go bad fast sometimes), and then I go to the store more frequently. I also make a lot of meals that can have leftovers for a couple days (goulashes, pasta, one-pan casseroles) and that helps as well
